I found some redline tires online and was trying to find some info on them. found very little searching here so i was hoping someone might have some info on what they were? on one site they stated 'correct red coloring' so i figured it must have been a fad or something at one time. i did find a little info like they were standard equip on some pontiacs and camaros at least. anyone remember these and what they were all about.
i was thinking of putting white letters on the back tires and running these up front- like a hot wheels.

I started this topic over in th beetle forum a while back. I agree, the hot wheels look would be pretty cool. After all, were still kids, just bigger toys! Laughing

You may want to look at Coker Tire.

yeah i saw that. but i am trying to find out when and why cars had these. i haven't seen any at any car shows i've been to- as opposed to loads of whitewalls. so why the difference?
and i like these better than the cokers. just like the look a bit better-diamondbackIII:

They were on some of the mid-late 60's muscle
cars, like the pontiacs and the camero. They
were the performance tire of the day, the
"red lines" and the "wide oval" tires were so-called
performance tires of the day.

They would look pretty cool if you could find
some big rear ones.

Hey Murzi,

My friend had a 1980 TR8, it was pretty quick, but ugly as
hell and leaked a ton of oil. Good ole British engineering Rolling Eyes

You mean you guys don't remember the Uniroyal
Tiger Paws ? I believe they first came out on
mid to late 60's Pontiacs and later 60's Mercury
Cougars as mentioned above.
