I gotta say that sleeping two in an SO-44 is a bit roomier than a SO-42 and perhaps any other configuration, but I'm biased. 😁 |

glad you spoke up. got my numbers backwards. it's been 25 years. of course it was a SO44. So i am biased, too

I assumed that most sleeping in a 42/34/44 bus would sleep head towards steering wheel for a less claustrophobic feel. Would be an interesting survey...
... which way do you lay? Lol . |

i find it easier to get out where my feet are. otherwise i would need to perform acrobatics to get turned around. and i was in my 20s/30s then.
could even sit up and put shoes on and such. so camp feet to the steeringwheel _________________ regards

I don't think this SO42 will be for sale for long
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2595606
This is the first SO42 that I have seen that is not two-tone that also doesn't have an export code.
It has some cool features like locking ignition, European wall lamps, uncommon color option (non Pearl White or Velvet Green) and gas heater.
Everett- can you add these pics to the gallery? _________________

Cool bus I think somebody did alright on that purchase. I can't get over how rusty the floor is relative to the rockers. |

It should be pretty easy to find a middle seat for that Bus too
The only issue right now is shipping it |
I just used fastenal and it was pretty reasonable and fantastic. A seat may be outta the size limit tho! _________________ So what I drive the short bus! |

While most no port code westys are two tone, not all. Seen others.
I expect this bus came with plaid cushion covers, rather than the common mustard vinyl.
Nice code plate! 😀 _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

Cool, if anyone has an image of the plaid seat covers Clara mentioned I’d love to see it.

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon. |

Same plaid as used on SO34s. A few SO42s also used it. Even some early bay westys
