i made the mistake of buying a date coded one for my mango that a guy had in the ad as a crowsfoot. It wasnt. I was pissed but it was my own stupid fault for not looking closer. It may wind up being the spare in the mango

was thinking either he forgot a '0' which would be a ridiculous price or maybe a '1' in front of the '6'?

I live nearby so I sent him an "I'll buy it!" message just in case.

Looks ok from what we can see in the 2 pics but it could be either - Way better or way worse than expected.

While it is a roller, and interesting, 6 grand for a project that will need everything done is too much. I don't think you can build it for what it would cost to buy one.

engine, bumpers, floors, all seats, floors, windows, mats, interior, not even talking paint. This will take a lot of money. Overall condition is not bad, though.

That actually seems like a decent start, and $6k is about the least that any realistically buildable bus costs these days. Of course any project car is easy to get upside down in. Life was sure easier though when buses like that were $100, and you could find most of the parts in junkyards.

Also, good presentation on the part of the seller. The bus was emptied and cleaned before the photos, even if he did get a little aggressive with the pressure washer.

I like it! I would have taken pics showing the flat lid and flat front cargo door if I was selling a 58 though. Maybe those are just my favorite parts and what make 58s my favorite Laughing

not all 58's had a flat decklid. I have owner 3 58's that didn't. one single cab, one Delux, and one westy. Maybe this is one of those later ones. All 3 of these were OG paint buses, had press bumpers and all were produced before AUG of 58 . So I know they hadn't been changed.

Pressed bumpers and decent logos for $10k. Wouldn't take much to have this be a pretty good looking and driving bus.

I didn't see pics of the frame rust. I think it's pretty bold to assume that

Good point. It appears it might be a walk thru? Same as his other one?

I've looked at this ad about a dozen times and I think even the frame rust wouldn't be enough to deter me from taking it on if I was in the position to do so. Those side logos are absolutely killer!!

Looks like it, especially with the lack of upper vents.

I think the words "frame rust" are enough to scare a lot of people away, and justifiably so, but who knows how bad that rust really is. If someone has the skills to do it, it can turn into a very cool bus.

If it were a later panel and no logos, it wouldn't be a good deal at all. Being an earlier bus that looks decent and fairly straight, I'd say it's nice compared to some of the other junk out there!

First thing I noticed about both of them too! Talk about an early walk through.

Is that a 3rd one on the lift behind the teal and white one. What are the chances of finding 3 1958 walk thru panels. Maybe all from the same coffee fleet. Pretty cool finds.
