Good point. It appears it might be a walk thru? Same as his other one? |
First thing I noticed about both of them too! Talk about an early walk through. |
Is that a 3rd one on the lift behind the teal and white one. What are the chances of finding 3 1958 walk thru panels. Maybe all from the same coffee fleet. Pretty cool finds. |
I believe his 2 for 20k ad that used to be up said that the green and white one had matching logos under the repaint. _________________ Oil Capital Air Cooled

That actually seems like a decent start, and $6k is about the least that any realistically buildable bus costs these days. Of course any project car is easy to get upside down in. Life was sure easier though when buses like that were $100, and you could find most of the parts in junkyards.
Also, good presentation on the part of the seller. The bus was emptied and cleaned before the photos, even if he did get a little aggressive with the pressure washer. |
Looks like 20 days before the ad was placed this bus was in project mode!

This one looks like a good deal to me, depending on the rust. The roof section in the front looks crispy.

Good deal, but I don't think they are '67 Gates, my eyes are not that great, but
I don't see the pressings around the hinges like a '67 should have.
My '66 has a '67 on one side:
When my truck was redone in 1978, I'm guessing they didn't care that the gates
kind of did not match... _________________ Tom

The photos aren't very clear, but I can see a lot of rot and damage on the side gates. They're going to need a lot of work and it's going to be expensive to get to a decent state.
They're not 'fit and forget' for sure.
Whether they're a better deal than buying a new repro set probably depends on whether you're talented enough to make the replacement metal from scratch, and have the time to do so.
On the plus side; there's a full set of gates, a pair of treasure chest doors and the gates may be the earlier style (hard to tell from the pictures), but I don't think they're a steal. _________________ Andy

Was at my local tire/auto repair chop and asked about VW repairs in my area.
He asked me if I would be interested in an OEM tire in which I'll use for a spare.
No cracks and still in wonderful to new condition $20.
Not sure if this was a deal, but I'm pretty damn happy. What are the chances?

I wouldn't use it but that is a great deal for an original Continental tire.
I'd use it for display instead.
I have one of those too, I think I paid a little bit more

I've had an identical one listed for sale on theSamba for about a year. I guess my form or title of my ad must be a little lame?
Mine's not as good as Jeler's. Funny thing, we are about 35 miles apart. _________________ Al Brase

I looked and honestly I would sell that one separately and advertise it as something like:
Original Continental 7.00-14 tire
I give you permission to repost it as a "new" ad. _________________ How to Post Photos

Looks like a twin to the one I picked up today. I'm not going to use it but will mount it on a 14" rim when I find one.
No doubt it'll be displayed behind the front seat and never mounted on the bus itself.
It's amazing there are still a few survivors out there.
Thanks
Jeff

I saw this real deal 1960 23 window posted on FB. It is a huge project, but the price didn't seem to bad for a real 23. It is a good project for a shop or someone who is good at rust repair and panel replacement.

Missing M code and vin plate. Wonder if missing vin plate would be an issue in some states to title and register. |

Typical FB people that don't know Split Buses (Bug & Ghia owners or NON Vw people) crapping on a fair priced 23..... _________________ Tom
