I can't believe the prices people are asking for single cabs and panels recently. I don't think they are getting them but I could be wrong. wouldn't be the first time. yes the special paint is definitely the coolest thing about this truck |
Yes, maybe I'm biased because it's a Single Cab and don't find them very valuable. |
People can ask whatever they want, but it's when they start regularly selling for insane prices when we need to be aghast. That said, the special paint singlecab already sold, while the two $35k singlecabs remain available for any sucker who wants to step up to the plate and massively overpay for a dodgy truck. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=150711&start=52980
singlecabs and panelvans will always be the least valuable buses because they are the least people friendly regular production buses out there. Also, they were the two cheapest models when new. _________________ .

I saw the ad before it was changed to pending, I think the asking price was $40,000
The 1958 Binz #156 listed for $75k sure sold fast as well. _________________ September 1964 Standard Sunroof walk through SWR/BG original paint. |

I feel like panels are making a surge in popularity because they are a big canvas and cool . _________________ http://www.vw-trader.com |

Sounds like a good reason for them to be *more* valuable. And at least with a single cab you get decent load space.
To be honest; it annoys me that they're being advertised for daft money though.
I just insured my truck for the coming year. Having seen the asking prices here and elsewhere, I decided to go with an agreed valuation and insured it for £25K.
I don't expect that I'd get that for it if I decided to sell it, but I could see myself having to pay that if I had to try to replace it. _________________ Andy

If you're in the market for an early Westfalia tent/poles/etc. this is a pretty good deal. Missing the front panel seems to be the only bummer but I'd want better pics of the setup to determine condition. Grey is a less common color as well.

It looks like they only had 2 pics, unless they added some after posting the ad.
It would be hard for it not to be a good deal in today's market at that price.

I can spot the closet so there must be some cabinetry. I bet the person got deluged with offers so you have to wonder if it really sold for $12k. Hopefully it did for some extremely lucky buyer. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

The ad kinda gave the idea the interior was all there. You can see some cabinets. Despite some bondo here and there bulging and what seller says looks like was a fairly clean west coast bus originally needing the basics like rockers etc. I thought price was a steal. I must have been one of the first to email but got no reply. I need it like a hole in the head but at that price what a good deal! I do agree I bet it went for much more then listed. _________________ Samba Member #95 |

Don't know how long this link will persist but what do you think of this?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/124939471202?hash=item1d16f90962:g:CcQAAOSwxOlhX2o~
A lot of the interior indicates it was hardly used and stored well.
I don't know what they were trying to prove with that engine compartment. Where's the air cleaner? Wouldn't oil spray everywhere with the breather open? |

As all good deals, gone by the time I see them.... This looks like a very affordable project. Clean it up, new sunroof, get it rolling and running. This one hurts because it's right in the neighborhood.
