Not the same Gabriel. That is a much later version(mid '60s) of the one you recently sold. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/pix/1075541.jpg

I have had a couple of these from various years, some even NOS and in the box and I have never had a boot........that said; if you look at the pictures from the previous page you can see some with boots. It is just my experience that I have not had boots with the ones I have owned. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

I think that you just use the stock boot. they are certainly set up to take a boot.

For a WASO I had a few years back, I tracked down a old stock rubber boot that was designed for shift locks, and it was indeed larger in base diameter than a stock boot. I believe I found it at Bad Camberg; don't remember from whom.
IIRC, the Sperrwolf's boot lip is larger in overall perimeter than a stock shifter's flange, as well. _________________ David Ruby

When I had a Sperrwolf in my bus, I went to an auto upholstery shop and had a boot made out of leather. It was inexpensive and it looked great. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

That seems to me to be an elegant solution! _________________ David Ruby

regarding the boot , i have bought some grey , glossy , beautiful boots from bfy in the 90`s ..... they were real hard to reshape to make them fit the sperrwolf ...so
i have prepared a jarr of very hot water , submerged the boot for a few mins .....and voila !!! after that , the boot went there real easy ......
now , anybody could give me the height of the spacer???
i can manufacture them in steel or duraluminum , and paint them in the matching color , if anybody is interested , just let me know
i can also provide the longer bolts

I'm starting my search for a Sperrwolf. Can anyone post a pic of the correct one for a 56 beetle with all the necessary bits and pieces. I know nothing about them- yet. |

I've just picked up these 2 shift locks
I don't recognise this logo on this one
Any idea's?
I know it's for pre 55 as the shape is designed to miss the handbrake
Unfortunately the lock has been drilled so I'm hoping the barrel in the other lock can be swapped across

What would be the correct color for these? Most I see look to be ivory, but this one seems to be more of a brown color?
That's the style I have... |

I was offered several of those tags last year. Seems like a stash was found recently. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

I just purchased a Sperrwolf lock which is pictured above however it does NOT have the 2 main bolts that hold the unit secure to the tunnel. Is it true that I can use the stock 14mm bolt to hold the rear down and that all I need is a longer 14mm bolt to hold down the front???
Are these bolts to have allen heads??? _________________ ~Steven G.~

It is NOT true, you can't just use regular 8mmx1.25 bolts to secure that lock. The rear bolt is easier to fabricate, but some ingenuity will be required to fit the front bolt (especially if you want the locker to function)
The SperWolf bolts have 14mm socket heads, not Allens.
The front bolt has a tapered hole located on it's head. This tapered hole is where the locking pin inserts to facilitate a "locked" mode. _________________ 1947 Typ 11a

Thanks Rareair, anyway you can post a photo of what the bolts should look like or specs on them? Anyone out there that MIGHT have these bolts for sale? Looks like I need to find someone to fabricate a bolt to work for me. : (Q _________________ ~Steven G.~

The front bolt would be the easier one to replicate. You'll need to have a machine shop "blanchard ground" the head of the bolt so it'll sit flush with the locker base. If you inspect the base, you'll see that the front bolt will sit inside a recessed area. When the bolt in in this recessed area, the head of the bolt must be flush so that the lockout plates can move back & forth freely. If the bolt head sits too high, the lockout plates will have little to zero movement.
Once you have the bolt properly ground down so it sits flush, you'll need to dimple the head of the bolt. This dimple will allow the keyed dead bolt to sit properly and lock the lockout plates in the reverse position. You can barely make out the dimple on the front mounting bolt in this photo-

This is very valuable information! Thank you! How does the rear bolt look and why would it be more difficult to make? _________________ ~Steven G.~
