Hello... my son just purchased an early type 1 Sperrwolf shift lock. Trying to take it apart to clean up some of the rust inside. Does anybody know a trick or what I can use to remove the 2 flat head screws inside? They are kinda on there cuz of the rust, and really cant get a large screw driver on them cuz they are inside in an angle. Thanks for any help

Does anybody know if these locks will work in a 1955 Porsche pre-a? I don't know why they wouldn't, but I do not want to just assume and buy one!

Anyone know if the early Sperrwolf Shifter Locks work with the early Volmac Folding Shifter? Does the width of the shifter affect the shifting of gears once installed with the lock on? Does the internal plate in the lock need to be modified?

I trying to wire mine into the ignition system and I have a some questions

Is it a cut out switch? As I thought it was or does it act as the ignition switch when it wired up and you no longer use the normal ignition switch

It tells you in the bulletin posted to disconnect the wires from the ignition switch and connect them up to the lock terminals.

If I just wanted to use it as a cut out switch could I just route wire 30 which is the supply to the ignition switch I think via the gearstick lock in on terminal 30 out on 50 back to terminal 30 on the normal ignition switch?

I'm going to have to play with the switch and see what feeds I get out when it's locked and when unlocked

Thanks

Hi Arthur,
The Sperrwolf shifter locks as discussed in this thread ARE the actual ignition switch. if for example, you ordered you K'ghia from the factory with this option, you would have no dash ignition at all. My car in its factory delivered format is just this. Sperrwolf ignition on the floor, no hole in the dash for stock ignition.

What you are suggesting is that you could use an ignition switch to electronically bypass your ignition switch. when you consider it like this, it makes no sense and maybe better clarifies the thought process behind why you wouldn't be using both?

Hope this helps,

Jason

Dear Jason,

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. Yes I figured out it was an ignition switch by playing about with it and you have confirmed it.
Is terminial 30 the feed from the battery?
I think I still maybe able to use it as a cut out switch it I route the feed from the battery via it but only use 2 of the terminals. I going to have a play with it this week.

I recently purchased a Sperrwolf advertised here on the Samba.
The box is mentioning a VW Type 2 partnumber..

Has anyone compared the black repro unit to an original mid 60's unit? Is it an exact copy or just looks like the original? (Other than the VW logo)

Curious if the plates and lock cylinder are the same or adaptable.
