Just curious..... How do you access the engine for maintenance? Behind the seat? I don't see any seams in the body for opening panels. _________________ "Just $99 down and $64 a month for 36 months buys you a brand new Volkswagen Beetle!"

Carpet is in and the front suspension is back together. I have to lift the back of the car enough to slide the motor underneath but that won't be for a couple weeks.

Actually I cut down the big oval air cleaner tops they sell. Sump plate would have worked too! _________________ 1957 Fiat 500 Subaru STI engine G50 trans

Did not like the whole 80's paint everything the same color so a lot more chrome when it goes back together. Windshield posts out for chrome, new chrome King Bee headlights and fabbed up these covers for the rear control arms attachment points out of a leftover air cleaner top. _________________ 1957 Fiat 500 Subaru STI engine G50 trans

I have drifted away from vw engines in the last two builds but after some soul searching this car deserves to have traditional power! The car came with all the original paperwork and brochures from Ave-T along with photos of the original owner dressed as Santa delivering presents at Christmas in the car. I am going with a 1776cc The car is down to the frame right now and I am reupholstering it in a dark camel tan. New instruments, carpet and a full cut and buff. Kept the wire wheels but went big tires rear little front.

Oh god damn it... Speedway Motors sells the Track-T bodies for their chassis' for not a lot of money. Now I'm going to have to go buy one and build a VW version..... |
Speedway also sells the kits to mount a Ford style transverse leaf spring front suspension. I've looked at that several times. I think body style wise I would go with an older style T body, cut down 32 grill shell, and from one of the T restoration shops the kit for a wood T bed over a type 3 motor. Size wise it looks like a T body is a pretty close fit for a Bug frame, though the controls would have to be moved back (like on my Mini-T.) _________________
