Old news, as kintail had posted some picks earlyer this year, but I thought the rescue pics would be entertaining.
54 truck rescued last summer after three years of nurturing the deal.
56 oval body, found and rescued last summer... decided to save gas and pick them up at the same time
Previous owner used a unimog to push the truck around (before I got there) ...probably responsible for some of the dents on the nose
Aww, isn't that cute
up she goes
Previous owner was happy to see it go, and in a hurry to get it loaded so that he could go to the cottage for the weekend.
Stopped for lunch
Me, all smiles (you would be too!)
Jason, wishing he had called "partners" ...to be fair, the oval body is technically his.

We have loads of photos, but probably not enought to really describe what went on there. This my first day off in 7 weeks.
Jay was the hook-up to deal with the owner. He got three of the buses. After a better look at them, he decided to pass them on (and they are up on the samba for sale, including the 59 DC in the blackberry bramble pic above)
There were no early westies (other than two pop-top SO-42s), or buses Greg & I want to keep.
We don't want to part any of the buses out that we towed out.
After we were out there for 4 weeks, we found a 59 single cab we hadn't seen before. The blackberries were that thick. Hey, we had a title for the SC, and took it too! _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

That is what I call a living bus. I have found live bugs and insects and a host of nests but never an actually seen a bus capable of photosynthesis. Good work Clara. _________________ '66 Westy SO-42

well I guess this pic was a couple months ago now.
We cleared out the Maple Valley,WA stash.
32 buses. 29 pulled out, 3 parted.
It was an adventure. Been pulling stuff out of there for the past month and a half and just got done.
More pics when I have time.
90% of the buses had titles.
The owner had a repuatation for being hard to approach. Many stories of that. I heard he went to jail for stabbing someone with a screwdriver.
I look at this as taking these buses from a home where they were neglected and abused, and now we want to find them homes where they will be cherised and loved.

All original 59 Mango complete inside and out. All seats are there and even the middle seat kick panel. Complete original headliner still intact as well. All original paint and not to rusty for sitting outside on the East Coast for alot of years.

Just a late model second owner CA bus that needs mechanical attention.
Unfortunately it has some original owner "hippy hacks" and needs all the rear interior, as it was "camperized"...
First bus in a long time that I actually drove onto the trailer though!
Clara would have driven it home, I know that. The brakes started to pump
up after filling the res and driving it around the yard for awhile. |
