Where is that VIN on the bus? It is a VIN for a 65 standard microbus.
I would expect the VIN on the white camper to be 237 xxx xxx
What does it have on the fresh air vent and in the engine compartment? |

I know you said the M-code plate is gone... but just to make sure you're looking in the right spot (behind the passenger's front seat)... see red arrow.

Haven't had the chance to get her cleaned out yet, I'm trying to wait out the rat family living in it. Some of the cabinet doors wont open, I did find an early Karman Ghia decklid script in it. But to answer the question no, and Im not lucky enough for the tent to be in it. But I am super excited that all of the interior lighting is present as well as the curtain rods. |
Look on top of the side cabinet. There would have been a green canvas bag stapled/fixed to the top. It will have snaps(I think). It is where the child's cot poles were supposed to be stowed. Sometimes the poles got tossed and the bag got folded back up on top. I was surprised to find it, but there it was.
Also, you should have 4 small rectangleish brackets mounted to the A and B pillars on both sides of the cab. Those were where the poles would fit.
BTW the poles will be black one shorter than the other. The ends will look like the top two in this pic. Middle pole is early Bay, and the bottom galvanized two are for later bay. Maybe you know this already.
Don't be ashamed of your find. You have an ICE BOX. More than likely worth more than what you paid for the bus ;-P Hahah. I have a '67 in similar or worse condition. Congrats on your find!

Yup. '67 rubber knobs too. My '67 has the same type rubber knobs that my very OG '67 bug has too.
All compasses point to 1967. |

Interesting. I have a '67 that has the square pull on all interior. Same as my '65. Maybe someone changed it? |

Not sure... I believe early '67 used square handles & later in '67 they went to the Bay style. I don't know a date or Fabrik number. _________________ aka: Evan

My 1/3/67 production SO42 has all square pulls. I'm guessing the switch over to bay style pulls happened when they ran out of the old ones. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

Oh, sorry, yeah, later style cabinet and ice box door pull is later '67 but I just meant it is '67 only whereas the square ones could be '67 or earlier. The staining where they used to be in those pics looks like '67 only stains.

Speaking of those, is anyone reproducing them? Seems like a perfect job for a 3d printer. Just have to get the material/color right. Sounds easy...right ;-P

Jacek makes them as well as a bunch of other Westy parts:

Thank you, I did not know. Great that these are being reproduced. I can't tell you how many swaps I scoured for those silly things with no luck. Ha. |
