I'd guess it is a display piece, it looks like a walk-thru Panel that has a camper kit, aka a "Pamper"... Unless you bought it, it does not belong in Today in Bus Hunting History. _________________ Tom

I'm sorry but what advert? Link? |
The one in soonices' original post that I quoted. There are a bunch of pictures.
Reading the ad text it also says 'hydraulics to lift van 12“ off the ground'. |
On my computer all it has is the purple-brown stretch under a pine. Nothing else happens. |

I've uploaded the photos from the advert linked by Soonice, and stuck them in the Freaks and Frankenbuses thread... https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=9650599#9650599 _________________ Andy

That bus has been sitting there for a long time. It's a clean OTW camper, but the price is insanely high. I cant remember what it was off the top of my head, but I do remember thinking you could get a much nicer and earlier bus for the price. I got the feeling that they either had delusions of grandeur or just didn't want to sell it. If it were a good price, it would not be sitting in an antiques mall next to the highway for years. |

Went and looked at this '62 DD Panel again, price is now @ $27K
If anyone is interested, shoot me a pm, I don't think it is worth close to that price.... _________________ Tom

It is pretty toasty, as is the Bus, if I go there again I'll ask, but it is 90 miles from me..........
He would probably want $150 or more for it.... _________________ Tom

It’s been awhile but we drug home some split buses today. 67 double cab, a standard and a kombi. The two buses have got to be for parts. The double cab is salvageable but need a new chassis, the torsion housing is basically rusted off but it has all the seats, gates, etc. nose is pretty nice. Fun!

Congratulations, nice score. The sea blue 66 standard doesn't look too bad from the pics but I'm guessing the frame and lower sheet metal and really far gone. Anyway you look at it there are still lots of good parts in those two buses left that can help save others. _________________ September 1964 Standard Sunroof walk through SWR/BG original paint. |

the sea blue bus, you can see the floor, which is falling down to the ground, which is attached to the chassis frame sections, which is also rusted out. both buses need whole "frames". I don't like cutting up buses so of course will see if there are any takers before any cutting. but this is average midwestern fare when they've been sitting in a field. _________________ Josh The Bus Guy formerly known as JOGR
