Here’s another video of a couple buses I just pulled and one very unique bus that I’m still dreaming of.

You need to get some fast food trays to skid vehicles onto your trailer. Pieces of UHMW work well too. |

July 1958 Subhatch westy
Where it was parked since 1993
filled with parts
Powerwashed on the trailer
Parts removed and original interior hidden inside. Well a decent chunk of it.

Sweet find! It's always exciting to see another press bumper Westy found.
Do we know when Westfalia transition from the '58 kit to SO23? _________________

I think the fact that the camper interior was wrapped in vinyl may have saved the wood that is there.
I honestly don’t know enough about early westies to know if it’s the 58 interior or the so23. Looking up the chassis number on says it’s July 58 but the title is a 59, not meaning much. _________________ 1952 Zwitter

Rad! That table/bed is part of a 58 kit
If you end up going a different direction on the interior I could really use the table hinges!!!
Would you mind sharing the chassis number? What color was it, pg/sg? _________________ 58' pg/sg silo fridge westy

After some digging I think it is the 1958 kit, not the so23. Would that just be called a Campingbox then? _________________ 1952 Zwitter

Yes, I am aware of '59 model year pressed bumper SO23 (Samba member perello's SO23 comes to mind). The question is do we know when Westfalia started producing SO23s?
Was it at the start of the model year of '59 (August 1958)? _________________

Yes, they introduced the SO-23 kit with the '59 model year change in August 1958. There is a press release from VW which says as much. _________________ .

All the early models have a decal which says campingbox. There are around four different kits with this decal. Most people call this kit the "58 kit". It was available from mid '57 model year through the end of the 1958 model year.
What is the chassis number on this bus? Being July, it could be the latest '58 kit known.
Any evidence of logos? There is a period pic of a '58 with sports car club logos in the midwest. _________________ .
