the logo'd barndoor ('54) is pretty rough in the drivers front. The nose seam is actually seperated from the door pillar and there is rust-thru around the bottom 3"s of the entire bus...BUT the cargo floor is emaculate with the exception of a 4" hole. The sparse interior is complete (for a panel). But hey, it is a Barndoor!!!!

this one?

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/106424.jpg

Hey it's a Barndoor (thats the reasoning I have been using for the one I am after) Laughing

Yours doesn't look too bad- typical rust. The front drivers pillar on my panel is completly seperated- plus it is rotted 3" around the bottom- but the freaky thing is the floors are almost perfect- except the 4" hole in the cargo bay- It is cleaner than my '60.

Where did you pull yours from?

If you look in the spilt-bus forum, I am kicking around the thought of writing a book specifically about the barndoor- Shocked

Hello again! Yup thats my Bus! Its got the typical rust and then some. The cargo floor doesnt look too bad, I dont think I'll have to replace it, just patch it here and there. On mine its the passenger post by the front cargo door thats swinging in the breeze! I pulled it from a back yard in Connecticut where it sat since the mid to late 60's. I use the same reasoning you do for fixing it - it's a barndoor! Otherwise I wouldnt have bothered with it. If I didnt get it it would most likely have been scrapped eventually. Later! Smile

PS:
I'll take one of those books! And if I can be of any help with it let me know!

Tom-

Yah the black panel is sitting in my garage since Oct. It is basically an interior storage unit for all the kids crap. I got the engine to start and actually hummed pretty nice. It is in need of some serious welding (typical midwest bus) but I can't complain for the price. Hopefully this fall I can spend more time on it- would love to show up and park it at the office. I'm sure I would get "asked" to move it to the back of the lot- Laughing

Does the barndoor look like it did 10 yrs ago? Probably hasn't moved. Took Debbie and I, 4 hours to unload all the crap in it. I was amazed... Shocked There were like 60 homemade exhausts with J-tubes, freakin' nuts. Just one creepy situation up there let me tell yah-
