For the most part its rust free, as far as I know the engine did run when it was parked about a year ago (it doesn't now). Its a 70, FI and that's about all I know. It also has unknown fees due to the DMV. Its fairly close to my house but I don't have the money to do anything to it for a long time, so I just wanted to know if you think I should take it?

Is it too ratty or should i snatch it up, I know its free but I don't want garbage, I want something I can enjoy!

Thanks Much!!

As long as you have room to store it you should take it.

Take it.
If nothing else you could clean it up a little and sell it.
Hell you never know you might be able to get it running for minimal cost.

good luck

Free? Hell yeah, if you have the room. People today are itching for a backup car that is both cheap and fuel efficient. Once gas hit $2/gallon, the local VW guy couldn't keep up with maintenance demand for ACVWs. Take it, title it, get it running, and make a handsome profit. Capitalism rocks.

I was going to say, take it and "ICY" it.
Which could mean a few things.
1) Move it from that guys yard to your yard to rust
2) Move it from that guys yard, cut it up and sell it
3) Move if from that guys yard and talk about fixing it up

Take it, or pass it up to someone else that is willing and able to get it back on the road. You'd be surprised how easy cars can be brought back with a little work and even less cash. Good luck. Hector

Or take it, cut the top off, slamm it, and ride your topless slammed fat-chick to the store once in a while for kicks! Twisted Evil

Where is it located?? By the background, It is not in the midwest.
If you don't want it, pass it on to someone who does.
Also, I noticed a car toter sitting there. Shouldn't be too hard to get it home.

I think I'm going to take it, I have a place right next to my 73 bug just waiting for another VW. Thanks much!

Northern California, right outside of Petaluma in the hills of Marin along the coast. One of the most awesome views I have ever seen in this area.

Grab it. They ain't making these cars anymore, and something that solid deserves to be brought back to life. If you're lucky the DMV'll let you keep the blue&yellow plates too.

Is that the Nicasio Resevoir in the background of 008.jpg, or one of the other little ponds out in the Two Rock / Tomales area? And is that a gunshot "wound" in the hood? Looks like it, and in that part of the Sonoma/Marin area a shot-at car wouldn't surprise me .. though I'd expect more than just one. Shocked

Haul it home and start digging into it. I know a few T3 people in the SR/RP area if you could use some semi-local help getting it fired up...

Damn your good, that is the Nicasio resevoir. And yeah, the owner did take a shot at the car, we actually had a very fun day of shooting after looking at the car.

what the heck are you waiting for DO IT if it is a rust bucket the parts that are not made anymore are worth saving BUT if it is restorable then it is a great base car I would love to see another type 3 reborn and live on
I am not a squareback guy but I am a type 3 guy so if I had the chance to save it I WOULD in a heartbeat no questions asked

LOL. I was born & raised in Santa Rosa, only moved to Oregon a couple years ago. I spent a *lot* of time checking out little roads & towns out in the coastal hills .. if it's between Marshall and Fort Ross and shows up on a map, I've driven it at least once. Very Happy

Get the car. Worry about the rest later.
