This site has a great set of comparison photos from the original movie chase scene and the locations as they look today:

does anyone remember a canadian movie with a guy driving a 60's standard with a full length hwe rack,. I do not remember much about the movie other than it was on a canadian tv station(we get a few living near the border) and the guy was driving across canada? the bus eventually breaks down and he trades it to a local for some shit box car! DAMN I wish I know the name of this movie!

Girl, Interrupted with Jolie and Ryder has a brief bus shot near the end of the film. The bus was subsequently totalled. My '66 has the deluxe bumper trim from the bus in that film (or so I was told by the seller from PA).

Not an old movie but if you want LOTS of split bus footage, check out "Around The Bend" with Christopher Walken, Joshua Lucas and Michael Caine. It came out in 2004 and not the best movie around but entire movie revolves around their road trip in a split bus which made it worth watching. Curious if anyone on the Samba owns that bus, its got CA plates.

Just last night I spotted a bus in North by Northwest. 4 minutes 8 seconds into the movie, Cary Grant and his secretary were in the cab heading to the Plaza Hotel. A logo'd bus was visible from the back window of the cab. The movie was made in 1959. I haven't finished the movie yet to see if there were more.. It was late.

Checkout some Russ Meyer films.....
Supervixens has some buggies in it, and Faster Pussycat Kill Kill has a 356 all the way through it.

I recall an episode of Twilight Zone, Outer Limits or something of the sort, that was actually set inside an early split bus. The driver cleverly uses the fuel reserve tap to outwit a hitchiker.

Ive thought about the show many times over the years but have never been able to place it.

You can't forget Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
I also watched The Love Bug not long ago and noticed both a white Panel parked on the street in one scene and a Velvet Green hardtop Westy by the racetrack in another.

I remeber noticing lots of air cooled VWs in the simpsons. There used to be a web page about the VW theme in the simpsons but its down now.

I first watched the just released movie at a theater in San Francisco when I was a teenager (I wanted to get on a Harley and take off, afterwards) and tripped out watching it, again, last night, on AMC: Easy Rider. That heavy scene at the commune had a pre-1962, beaten up hippie mobile in it. The first half of that movie is really awesome.
Did you know that the early scene near an airport where the rich dude bought the cocaine was played by none other than Phil Spector?
What was the name of the actor who turned down the role that Jack Nicholson later took?

There was a late 70's or early 80's movie that ran on cable, made and set in Canada. A 21 or 23 window was the family car, they lived in a forested area...seems like there was a fair amount of bus footage...no idea what the name was...
