OK, I did a search in this thread "dark shadows" and got nothing. Dark Shadows by Tim Burton, with Johny Depp, Michelle Pfiefer, et.al.
I just watched the movie and in an early scene the Victoria character hitches a ride with a bunch of hippies in a deluxe hardtop that has a small pop-top, (sorry i'm not up on all the westy models and such). So they drive along in it for a couple scenes, inside shots, faces in the passenger slide window and in the front seat. Then later there is a party at the Collins mansion and there is a spitty parked in the circular drive near the front door.
Only problem with these sightings... you gotta watch this bad movie. The busses where the high part of it. _________________ in order

Just saw a JFK tribute special "Letters to Jackie" we DVR'ed November 17, 2013 showing newsreel footage of the Kennedy family just prior to the assassination, at about 0:59 into the two hour special. Shows family stepping out of a limo and walking up a sidewalk, toward the camera. Kombi parked in background lot, left rear side visible, shows up clearly. |

pretty much every VW available in the 50s, tons of other interesting 50s cars. notably a BMW 503, for the ones who have never seen one and probably never get to touch one in real life. _________________ regards

Archival footage remastered into documentary on the film that was made, never released of the "Further" bus cross country trip... Kesey and the Merry Pranksters crossing the US. Neat shot of a split driving behind and alongside somewhere between San Jose and LA. Pretty neat footage.
Oh yeah, the movie is Magic Trip. |
I watched this movie last night. Filmed in 1964 it actually has two split window buses. The aforementioned Dove Blue, bullet nose bus on a California road (about 20:50 min in) and near the end of the movie (about 74:25 min in) there is a 23 window at a mansion in Millbrook, New York. Pretty wild movie if you want to check it out on Netflix or this link: http://viooz.co/movies/1271-magic-trip-2011.html
And the screen shots:

Cloud Atlas. Strange good movie, though too long. At 2:10 a splitty drives by after a scene with Halle Berry. She drives a bug earlier in the movie. _________________ in order

I was in the local Ship it 4 You place last week sending out a split bus bulkhead section and starting chatting with a guy that was in front of me. He was curious as to what was in the large box, so naturally I told him what it was and my passion for old VW buses. The guy in front of him in line turns around a few times to check us out and to listen in to our conversation. After a few more minutes he turns around again and says "I used to have one of those old buses. Remember the movie Alice's Restaurant? Well, I was working on the set at the time and they had 2 or 3 extra buses around in case something happened during the shooting. After the film wrapped up, I ended up buying one for like $800 and used it quite often. It even had the logo on the front door, etc..I used to have people wave to me all the time" He also stated that he was recently approached by one of the auction houses to see if he still had it and wanted to sell, but he no longer owns it.
Pretty cool start to my day! _________________ Wanted : January '57 Palm Green Sand Green Bus Parts - Middle and Rear Seat Frames - flat back. I have original seat covers but would consider covered frames.
