Funny I should log on and this is the topic. This weekend, I went skiing. While taking a break, I turned on the tube and there was Forrest Gump. When I got my bus, it was rumoured to have been in the flick. In fact, the guy I bought it from swore it was. But I could never find it. I have watched the movie countless times, unable to find my "Jenny". Hehehe. Well, I got a grand valentines present. Watching the ending once again, I finally spied my bus, lurking real small and out of focus, but definitely, it is her. I know because mine in an SO-34 and so, has a pop-top. I could clearly make out the pop-top on the bus in the flick.
I think someone once said there were three busses in the flick. Now, a fourth one, at least can be added.
I am betting the movie appearance probably adds a cool fifty bucks to the value. |

From TCM channels after dark series, Drug Stories, a collage of old drug public service messages.
Filmed in the 70s, there are several fleeting moments of VW sitings in the background. _________________ What are the last 2 words of the National Anthem?

The movie Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967) has a couple of buses in the street scenes of San Francisco during the first five minutes. |

Deluxe Samba Barndoor bus parked, German movie "Die Goldene Bruecke" (The golden bridge), 1956. Filmed in the Munich area, Germany.
Possibly the same bus driving past in background of actress Ruth Leuwerik- |

Found 'em . Main characters John Prentice and his fiancee Joey Drayton (Sidney Poitier, Katherine Houghton) are in the taxi traveling from the San Francisco International Airport to her home.

I guess you could call Columbo TV movies. Anyway I saw this camper in Columbo "Publish or Perish" last week. Jack Cassidy's character backs into it to establish an alibi.

This shot is cropped from a period Getty Images video "Hollywood Blvd. 1957". Here's the entire scene:
Yellow "hippie bus" in animated commercial for Breztri COPD inhaler, early March 2022. First saw it on TV tonite, then found a lesser-quality version on YouTube. Looks like details were done well, with the rear wheelwell shape appearing to be '63 or older. |

Looks more like yellow tarmac with tyre marks on it.
The tube suspended with wires along the upper left hand side of the picture suggests to me that they're on a suspension bridge. _________________ Andy

Here's a very unusual one: Small airport mobile flight control bus. The rear view looked like a Fridolin (Type 147) with its low taillamp location,
but the side shot is definitely Type 2. German crime drama series "Der Kommissar", "Ein Maedchen nachts auf der Strasse" (a girl on the road at night).

1967 - The Cape Town Affair So full of VW's, with many commercial buses all over the place. The first 10 seconds has an SC with hoops and bows, a DC, followed shortly after by a nice Turkis Kombi. (Young Jacqueline Bissett makes it unlikely that you'll fast forward through the non-street scenes, just FYI.) |
Here's the turkis Kombi, unless there's another one in the movie:
