I see you’ve narrowed down your location in your avatar. You crack me up iowegian.
I’m south of the Columbia and east of the Pacific Ocean. Near the Salmon. _________________ Keep on Busin'

I had posted exactly where the gas station I reference is - Seaford, NY.
Isle of Langerhan is a play on words - Islets of Langerhans are islands of endocrine cells scattered throughout the pancreas. I am a Type 1 diabetic and live on what is sometimes referred to here as the Isle of Long (Long Island).
Kind of a tenuous connection, but it works for me. |
Scottyrocks. This post has 182 pages. I wouldn’t expect someone to back page to figure out where you live and to figure out gas prices.
Without a proper location in your tagline, avatar, or post. Gas prices mean nothing to someone interested. I nerd out on this and maybe someone else does too. Someone might be reading this page for the first time and it means nothing. So why waste the time posting?
It’s all for fun. I’m not trying to scold anyone. Just want people to not assume everyone from around the globe knows location.
Yes!! I know where about you all live because I’ve been on the Samba for years and even communicate with a few of you. This doesn’t mean everyone knows.
I will get off my soap box now. Happy New Year all. |
Several years ago I was in the same pursuit as you in this thread, I gave up.
Still at $3.45 here. But the gas station is actually in Ponderay, ID, which is a bastardization of the name of a massive freshwater lake nearby, Lake Pend Orielle. Which in itself is a bastardization of a French name having to do with an earring or dangling ear or some such. Fur traders and Natives and settlers are to blame I suppose. _________________ nothing |

Let me get this straight.
Melville frequently buys gas near Redwood City, CA.
Scottyrocks fuels up on an Isle I can’t google.
VWracerDave gets gas deep in whatever the 405 is.
Iowegian buys gas on the East coast of Iowa like Fort Madison.
Copy that. I’m sure those Samba members in South America and Asia following this thread knew that already. |
"Just Outside The Redwood Curtain" means I moved from Humboldt County California a couple years ago to Jackson County Oregon. Once in a while I have business back in Humboldt so I'll call it Old melvilleville.
The price I pay is somewhat skewed by the fact that I get ethanol-free gas when filling up anything German (car or bike) that might sit for a while. _________________ 2000 M Roadster

I thought it was kind of clever, myself <haha>, but if I'm gonna be posting regularly in a thread that depends on location for information, I'd rather show a real location with my avatar than write where I am every time I post. _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? My ref station (Amoco, Seaford, NY) went down to 2.95.9 a couple of days ago (from 2.99.9). _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? Mending old things, preserving them, looking after them – on some level there's no rational grounds for it.”

Prices going back up again here $4.49 for the 87 ethanol garbage that passes for gas here.
On another note, I just got an email from the natural gas company. They said rates are going up by 125% from December to January. So expect a bill that's twice as much as last January assuming you use the same amount of natural gas. |

Huh. I wonder why that might be?
Still at $3.45 here, $3.00 about 35 miles south, and $3.45 in Spokane, where the gas taxes are way, way higher. Makes about as much sense as a 125% natural gas increase in one month. _________________ nothing |
