Saw "little miss sunshine" on friday. Twas funny, and pretty accurate about the whole Bus experience, but it did have some technical mistakes (like how to drive a bus with no clutch. |
What I want to know is how this guy, who apparently can mount and align a sliding door with no problem at all, doesn't have the ability to replace a clutch cable?
Of course, that wouldn't support a pivitol plot point!

I know it's not a movie, but I have a Hustler magazine (May 2004) where porn star Dani Woodward is sprawled out all over a Bay in every shot. My friend gave it to me for that reason. She is a movie actress at least, right? I wish I had a scanner, maybe she's in WYHitIt somewhere. She's Superfine! |

Heh. I was thinking the same thing! Maybe he could teach us how to get that sliding door going so easily!!!
I still can't figure out the "push it to 20mph" or whatever it was to run without a clutch cable... _________________ No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow. |

That would be quite a feat. The fastest instantaneous speed achieved by a human runner is about 27MPH and sustained speed is about 23MPH. If Olive can achieve 20MPH in her present age and condition, I suggest that she forget about Little Miss Sunshine and start training for the Olympics! |

I noticed an orange & white, 1968~79 VW Type 2, high-top campervan, in the 1977 movie, "Blue Valley Songbird", starring Dolly Parton.
The movie was recently screened on British TV.

Since then, I have seen a few more 1968~79 VW Type 2s, featured in movie films, screened on British terrestrial television.
The 2001 movie film "Revelation", from Romulus Films Ltd. and starring Terence Stamp, Derek Jacobi & Ron Moody, features a light-blue & white, British L-registration (i.e. NMV 407L), 1972 VW 1600 Type 2 Dormobile campervan, driven my one of the film's subsidiary characters.
The 1994 movie film "Spoils of War", starring Kate Nelligan & Toby McGuire, features a light-blue & white, USA registered (the licence plate was indecypherable), 1974~79 VW Type 2 minibus, driven by kate Nelligan's character and another.
The 2001 movie film "Black Hawk Down", starring many non-American actors, such as Ewan Mcgregor, Jason Isaacs & Ewen Bremner, features the rusted, burnt out hulk, of a 1973~79 VW Type 2, in the urban battle scene, in Mogadishu, Somalia, involving US Rangers and Delta Force personnel.
That's all so far.
Regards.

Don't forget Almost Famous: they hop in a bus (can't remember if it was a bay or splitty) to ride to a party... and then drink beer that is laced with acid. _________________ If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

My family name is indeed SKEET, the true origin of which is uncertain, but historically, there was a device called a skeet, which was used to wet the sails of sailing ships, so they better caught the air. |

Don't mean to dig up this old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one for this.
I just saw the midnight movie at The Uptown (in Minneapolis). It was Willie Wonka (the old version). I saw 2 panel buses. One had a huge "Wonka" sign on it.
Keep your Wonka "golden ticket" and your lifetime supply of chocolate, I'll take the bus, thank you! _________________ "The large print giveth and the small print taketh away."

According to the dictionary of surnames I once read, there are at least three variants of this surname, which are Skeet, Skeets & Skeat, plus another name beginning with Ske..., which I forget, but which I vaguely recall, might be Skegg.

On New Years Day, the Food Channel aired chef Bobby Flay doing a "Chowder Throwdown" contest in Brooklyn, and in the background is an orange & white Bay bus! There was also a kewl old Willys or Jeep wagon there too. |

We just saw "Little Miss Sunshine" and read the back cover at the store. THe movei cover say that they ride in a "Rusted out VW." I didn't see a spec of rust anywhere on that bus. It was really clean. The problems with the bus could be fixed for under $200 easily. It is sad that our culture would consider that bus rused out. When I hear rusted out, I think of missing doglegs and stuff falling through holes in the floorboard, definately not and nice bus like that one. |

The movie should have been called "Little Miss F-Bombs". I watched it with my daughters, and when the grandpa and everyone let loose with the F-Bombs you should have seen my kids' faces! It was hysterical! Too bad grandpa died so early in the movie- he was the only interesting character! Well, BESIDES the bus! It looks just like mine! |

Two things....the movie is rated R....it was never marketed as a kids movie. Secondly...if the Bus in your avatar is the one that "looks just like the one in the movie" the only thing they have in common is yellow paint. The Bus in the movie is yellow and white. I did promotion for the movie in NYC and I had to paint my Bus yellow and white to do so. |

Well lah dee dah. The bus in the avatar IS mine and the ROOF is white. Close enough. And while you are being critical, I do not look like Lee Van Cleef in the avatar either. |

there's an orange one in the new live action charlotte's web. in the farm sequences where they're showing off the pig.
there's one in "the last dragon" when bruce leeroy green is walking across the street towards seventh heaven before the first abduction/rescue scene. _________________ I'm living down by the river and i don't even have my 'van'... |
