that was really more of a documentary, I saw this one. it was interesting how they skirted around the Grateful Dead in this doc, due to copyright issues.
I would love to live in a world free of responsibility but sadly these days are behind me. |

In "Electra Glide in Blue" Robert Blake is a motorcycle cop that gets blown away at the end of the movie by some hippie types in a bus. The weird thing was that the bus has a roll down window in the back hatch and the hippie shoots Blake from this window as he rides his motorcycle behind the bus. _________________ "You can lead an aircooled to water, but you can't make it drink"

Watching Rockford Files last night. In the first three outdoor scenes, there was a diferent splittie in each plus several Bugs. Considering when the show was filmed, I was surprised they weren't bays, though I'm sure there are some in other episodes. _________________ -- Christian

a new zealand mockumentary which features a yellow and white bay touring around europe, filled with 4 new zealand backpackers. watch it for the bay, then cry about the rest.
it is a very bad movie, everything about it is bad. even the funny parts arent funny.
AND to make things worse, they set the bus on fire at the end anyway! i cried.
but check it out, the kombi has a feature role, and isnt just a cameo.

Man on Fire has to win the award for cruelty to vintage VW's. Not only to they destroy that bay, but it seems like every time there's a gun fight, Denzel Washington takes cover behind a green taxi bug. Now I like bugs, but they certainly wouldn't be my first choice to protect my ass from a hailstorm of bullets... _________________ ----------

I just rented a documentary on Charles Bukowski (sp?), the poet, the other day and there were 2 buses that I saw in that one. The shots were old B&W film. The buses were late 60s, I think. And then there were old B&W shots of Bukowski himself driving in his car, which was a beat up old Bug with a cracked windshield with the Iron Cross hanging from his rear view mirror. The shots were from the inside POV.

I was watching the movie Wrong Turn the other day and saw a bay setting in front of these wackjobs house. Anyone see this movie? It's about these wacko brothers that live in the woods and people go down their road for a shortcut and they kill them, cut them up,and eat them.
I think the bay was blue and white. Only got a glimps of it.

Since this thread has devolved into TV shows, I can point out that several episodes of Dilbert, the animated series, had quite a few buses. Just about any scene where Dilbert is driving has buses, and there were clearly distinguishable splitties and bays.
One of the animators apparently had a soft spot for buses!

"Harry and Tonto" - funky split with the top half of a Beetle grafted onto the roof. I always thought that was pretty cool.
Also, since the movie was filmed in the early 70's there are a plethora of aircooled VWs in practically every street scene. Kind of neat to be reminded of how ubiquitous they were back then... _________________ Present:
