Just wanted to post the final result and thank those who helped answer my questions as far as wheel fitment and shocks.
1972 Westfalia Bus
Front: 4" narrowed adjustable beam with dropped spindles
Rear: 3.5" dropped horseshoe plates
Wheels: 17x7 repop chrome Fuchs
Stock length shocks
Beam is adjusted to it's highest setting. No rubbing or scraping.

Currently working to install a 4" narrowed beam but it appears the steering arm will make contact with the brake servo. Any of you run into this issue before and know how to resolve? _________________ 1955 Beetle |

You will have to use a “tall cap” which CIP sells. |

What are ya'll doing for center caps? Im running 17x7 fuchs and bought some really nice center caps but they for sure wont fit in the rear due to the axle nut sticking out too far. Not sure about the front fitment yet as I am still working on the beam.
I unfortunately cant run wheel spacers due to tire clearance issues.
Thanks for any leads! _________________ 1955 Beetle |

I yours looked good lowered. I have been going back and forth lowering or not. I don’t want to give drive ability or ride quality. |
It looks awesome up high like it is right now. My vote is to leave it that way. Full driveability is a huge plus as well. |

I love the 5-spokes too. They look great with the bus up high like that. But I'm partial and run them as well on mine.

Stock or 5 spoke, don't see too many with 5 spoke. I am picking up some 15" spilt bus wheels to try next.

I like the 5 spoke rims as they give your tin top a little bit of attitude. _________________ *******************************

At stock height, stock wheels always win. Bus 15's would look great on your bus. _________________ nothing |

I guess this is for anybody-but one thing to maybe think about trying when considering a tire that is going to be real close to whether it fits or not:
I was able to get my friendly local tire place to mount a pair of used tires they had to try out on my Bus. They did charge me a little bit (and rightfully so), but it was nice to know for sure that my combo would work before committing to a brand new set of tires and not being sure. |
I have done the same thing. It pays to spend money locally. My guys usually do this type of stuff for me for free as long as I am not in a hurry.
Also, keep in mind with figuring out tire size and clearance, not all tires are the exact same size. Just because it says it is a 205/75R15, doesn't mean its actual overall dimensions will be the same between different brands and models. _________________ nothing |

Cant thank you enough for the help and info! Looks like Im going to go with the same setup that Vee Dub Nut did a few posts up instead then, since I am going to ride at similar height as him and have the same exact setup, and it worked for him. Thanks again!

That will work for sure. Nearly identical to my set up with 17's, except I'm using a 205/40 tire in front. About as low as you can go without tubs in front.
