I'll have to add a thumbs way up for 4 corners too. They had a great driver with in a day to grab my bug. The driver was a stud too. Great guy. _________________ "When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car." |

Looking for a good shipping company to ship a bug from Severna Park, Maryland, USA, to Welland, Ontario, Canada.
I have not purchased the bug yet as I want to make sure I can actually get it to my house.
the bus is just a project car and as far as I know not driveable, has anyone had and experience shipping a project car from the USA to Canada?
any and all suggestions are welcome.
thank you! |

I read all 20+ pages of this thread and didn't see anyone comment on using https://www.autotransportdirect.com/
to ship a vehicle.......Or if it was mentioned, I missed it.
Has anyone used them? Good or bad? |

Another vote for 4 Corners. I bought a car in San Antonio and booked the transport 2 weeks in advance of being able to fly down there to see it in person. Not only did they provide excellent communication throughout the process, they managed to get the car picked up on the day I flew in and in the afternoon as requested. Even better, it was delivered to my front door, in Vegas, about an hour after my plane landed the next night. Without a doubt, the easiest shipping transaction I've ever done. |

Yet another vote for 4 corners. I've never shipped a car before so I was going in completely blind. Excellent communication, gave me a "thesamba discount," and had the bus on its way the very next day. Quoted me 7 days, it arrived in 5. And they were the cheapest price out there! 5 stars for sure. _________________ Ben

I just used 4 corners to ship my 63 bug from AZ to FL based on the recent reviews I found on the forum. They were great to work with and responded quickly to my questions. Their pricing was reasonable as I went with a covered transport. The bug was picked up last Friday and it was delivered on Sunday... I was not expecting it to arrive until Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. I am happy with their service and would recommend them to others. _________________ 63' Beetle |

I'm having trouble getting a Westy shipped in a covered trailer from Minnesota to LA. It's 78.5" high and I'm hearing that's too high for enclosed trailers.
Anyone know what the max height would be for an enclosed trailer? |

A non tractor trailer style are six foot tall inside and the you have to have some room for the door assembly and frame. That is stock. 6'6" is a common upgrade but again with the door you loose a few inches. As we have been in the VW world for so long we went with 7'6" so we can get a bus in without issues (7'4" at door). I think I have the tallest you can get without it being a stacker ( one car in top of another).
Tractor trailer type of enclosed are stackers but you may have to pay a bit more than a regular car as they may have to put a "shorter" car under/above yours. I only loaded new VWs in them so I am not sure of the measurements for them (short "training" period). |

Just had a bug shipped from Sacramento Ca to Albany NY by 4 Corners.
In spite of rain, blizzards, and road closures it arrived on time. Great price, good communication and service. I highly recommend them. |

Anyone have any problems shipping a project bus where there are a ton of parts for the bus in the cargo area? I have read that most shippers only allow 100 lbs of items to be sent with car. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks,

Sorry to revive this old question, but I recently had the problem exactly described here. I had a crappy brokered driver show up, (Russian) not that it matters. He would not pick up my bus because it had tools, folding ladder, small table saw and some random crap under a tarp, not up to the split bus window level. Admittedly over a 100 lbs but unnoticeable unless you were looking inside. The first driver says no and I end up having to pay him $50 through the broker on the end bill. Then the broker sends another driver days later. He hooks up no problem and off he goes. When he gets to my new house he tells me a story. He got pulled over in West Virginia and the cops went through my whole van solely based on the fact it is a 67 dove blue lowered bus from Colorado for suspicion. When they found nothing they informed the driver it was illegal for him to be carrying a vehicle with any personal items in it because he is not a mover which carries a different type of permit. He is only permitted to transfer cars only. They let him off with a warning. Apparently they can get a big ticket/fine for doing this. My stuff and car was in jeopardy if that cop wanted to be a real dick.
So, NO STUFF IN YOUR CAR!
Next time 4 Corners. I wish I had known about this thread. _________________ 56 Oval

On the flip side of my experience, I had a 65 bus moved with no windows and inoperable full of VW parts only and the driver and shipper had no problems at all. Different company though. _________________ 56 Oval

Just wanted to update everyone on my recent interactions with Jeff at 4 Corners.
- Excellent communication. Promised specific times and kept them.
- Promised a price (about 20% less for enclosed compared to the top 3 enclosed carriers) and kept his word on the price.
- Great driver and delivery
I have used 2 out of the 3 Big 3 enclosed carriers and using Jeff was as smooth of a process.
Highly recommended. |

From Cortez, Colorado to Indiana...anyone use anyone from Colorado? I figured if I got a shipper from the area or rough abouts where the car is located it would be a straight shot here, maybe making it cheaper? Open trailer is fine for a 1980 Westy that doesnt run.
Thanks

Jumping into the ring myself, looking to bring a '67 Bug from San Diego to Baltimore, MD. 4 Corners seems to have a lot of happy customers - anybody else had good experiences shipping coast-to-coast with other shippers? _________________ 1967 Beetle (Family car - 2nd owner) ...What have I gotten myself into?!

I've shipped from Oregon to Brooklyn NY and Brooklyn to Oregon using... 4 Corners! No problems whatsoever.
Recently had 2 Mercedes delivered from Phoenix. Two thumbs up. I've used 4 corners exclusively since 2010. Every so often I try someone else just for fun to see if 4 Corners is still really the best out there and the others consistently prove that yes, 4 Corners IS the best.
Don't know what else to say.
So far, all but a couple of my transports have been open carrier and no damage of any sort yet. I probably wind up shipping 5 or so cars yearly on average. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I see lots of discussion about experiences in USA but see nothing about shipping within Canada. I am considering purchasing a Beetle convertible in British Columbia but would need it shipped to Ontario. I have used uShip before to gather pricing information but I find them to be rather pricey. Does anyone have any suggestions about what the least expensive way to ship long distance within Canada might be?
Any assistance would be appreciated. |

If you are finding Uship prices too high I wish you lots of luck.... I will say that Uship takes a big percentage from the service provider (17 percent) but most of the time providers are just looking to fill a spot so cheaper than retail. |
