Have any of you folks had your Vanagon's paint buffed. My paint is a bit rough around the edges to say the least and there is no way I can afford a new paint job as of now. Any recommendations on the central coast (Monterey, CA)? Danka.

You are in high bucks land. Find out who the car dealers use for detail. Expect to spend over $100 to get an OK job on the outside. It's a BIG box with lots of big areas. PITA for the guys. Best is to step up for a better job with a synthetic sealer and get a car cover.

Used to be a good detail shop down in Sand City. Last I heard the guy was going up for cooking meth and growing pot.

But they did do good painting. WHen I was married into the Wester VW family we used to send our cars over there to be detailed and cleaned up...

I am convinced that many body people are tweakers. They almost have to be. I only pay the body guy for the work he does THAT day. NEVER, EVER pay a body guy beyond the amount of work he has done. There is a good chance he will go binge and not come back for some time. It is a poor idea to even pay them the whole week on Friday as they will be worthless come Monday. They are like little children. Sad.
