Well I had to sell the sika as we are having another baby. Had to get a doka Nice doka, but the 2.1 DJ doesn´t have anywhere near the torque of the 1.9tdk. Must - have - more - power....
From this:
To this (I´ve kept the wheels):

Our 1990 Carat - 93,500 miles on the odometer.
(mileage checks out with the annual Texas smog cetifications)...
It is a So.Cal. vanagon now, and the texas twang (and fine dirt) is just about wrung out of it.
Plan to convert to a series hybrid (diesel/electric) when the heads start leaking coolant.
Those are Merc 16" wheels from a 280C.. The 280 rears are 17", so 4 fronts are required to do this job.

they wont leak coolant if you buy the right kind from an authorized vw dealer |

My Syncro started life as a hard top. It's been a year-long conversion/restoration project.
The short list includes new paint, Rhino liner, all new rubber and seals, custom bumpers, decoupler, AA transmission with new 3rd & 4th gear sets, Recaros, custom cabinetry, and interior, SS coolant lines, hi-power headlights, Hella 500s, jail bars… Currently waiting on finishing up 2.5 Subaru install and custom upholstery, and tires/wheels.

I'll let you know once I get it back from Rocky Mountain Westy. Mike has it for a few more weeks. Wanted to go the Greese Works TDI route, but couldn't swing the cost. |

BMW Wheels, nice They often have high ETs so are relatively simple to place with the right spacers. _________________ 88 Westfalia Club Joker syncro AAZ i/c

Hi, new guy from Norway here. I've been reading these forums for years, but never got around to register. Anyway, here are a few pictures of my "Bluestar" syncro:

Just registered, sold my UrS6 to buy a Westy. Picked this beauty up from a member here on the Samba out of Winterpeg. She needed some TLC in a few areas. (brakes, a good cleaning, new pop tent....on route)
Pic from the drive home after I bought it. Dad's UrS6 running chase.
First real mod was to whip up some custom Instrument faces for it
Added red filters to the lighting while I was in there as well
Painted the bumpers and added a rock painted strip to tie the front and back together visually. Also added a set of BBS RY's (rare, 2 pc Euro-Merc wheels) from the old S6 as the new owner didn't want them....fun with spacers.
By god, I think we may almost be ready for some camping |
