Well this week i had to pull the motor from my panelvan, Its a d/p 1600 taken from my old 71 square. My question is this; As its apart i was thinking of changing the cam to a 284 deg? and was thinking of fitting a melling oil pump too. Would the cam be too much for a standard 1600??? I just want it to be abit more fun without spending too much.
Thanks for any info. |

I saw your post on the split bus forum.
I have an engle 100 cam listed at 276 duration
in a 1600, in a sc. My friend has an engle 110
which is what your considering, with 284 duration
in a bone stock 1600, in a bus
My truck has more bottom end punch than his
bus, but I do have better heads and some other
goodies. My truck seems to idle better also.
But he also doesn't have me working on it
I would go with the engle 100
Good luck

If it's got a stock carb, I'd stick with the W100 grind. |

Engle 110? Just bore it to 1776cc and be done with it. Stick some Kadrons on there and really have it thump.
I cannot remember the time I did a 1600cc anymore. I see a case and it becomes a bored out case.
Let me know if you get a hard time finding a machine shop.
cheers. |

He's talking about a heavey bus here, if he puts a 100 or 110 in all he gonna do is loose low end TQ, all other parts being kept standard. |

Has the technology of "shipping" been employed there yet? You could have something shipped. |

Just so you know the duration number you refer to is advertised duration and is basically useless. For future use the important duaration number is measured typically at .050. In a stock 1600 a 100 or if you go kads and 1776 a 110 or Norris milage maker works very well. I got 39 mpg in a 1600 with kads on the hwy. |

I think the US Post Office can find Malta. _________________ Glenn

Yes but how quickly is a differant matter.
I have had small packages take 3 months to get to the UK. I realise you can pay for faster or UPS etc. |

Shipping to Malta is not a problem,Its how long it takes to get here thats the problem.
( we even have an airport with real planes.I even heard they fired the guy that used to bring us post by DONKEY after they imported the first car to Malta a few years ago. )
I just want it done asap cos its already been a week now and my bus is my daily driver.
Thanks agian for the info..............very helpfull stuff. |
