I finally got some mudflaps that I like alot. But they don't have brackets. I'm very familiar with the brackets and discussion on Samba. But the pictures there don't help me at all. I see nothing behind my rear wheels that look like anything in those pictures...

Can anyone with mud flaps post a few pictures so I can see how they mount... then I can fabricate some brackets.... thanks...

The Ratwell pictures are the ones I have looked at "100 times" and they don't help me at all, unfortlunately. There is nothing in those pictures that looks like the wheel well areal on my 69 Westy!... thats why I'm asking if anyone has more photos of the mud flap installation.... thanks...

Just found some nicely priced mud flaps for my 70 bay
I have also looked... but it doesnt have the mounting (as seen in ratwell) for mud flaps in the earlier bays from what I understand.
Anyone mounted these on the splash guard? Any ideas or photos? Thanks Samba

Here's some OG mudflaps,
This bus is a 71 so the mount would be 68-71

This is a 72-79 (apologies for the focus but I'm not crawling under again)

And here's a 68-79 front (no they didn't come with robertson screws from the factory)

So speaking of mud flaps, are the ones from Venezuela worth buying? Ratwell says be wary because they're inferior to the original German mud flaps, but also says they're probably the best you can get now. Are they worth getting anyways?

Well, I know that Venezuela is not in Germany. But I found a set on ebay for $25. For that price I am gonna give em a try! If you can find a good set of German ones, they usually want your first born....
Looks like the auction ended but keep checking.... search "NOS vw mud".

Yeah, that's the auction I found. For that price, I'm tempted to give them a try too, provide I can get someone to fabricate brackets for me.

Anyone have the plans for the brackets that were once on the ratwell site? I am having a tough time deciding how to mount my mud flaps on my 70. Went to check out the diagram and its gone!

Got my flaps installed. Used a couple metal hinges and a few bolts. Worked pretty good.

Hey Poptop, so are you saying they dont look good close up? Crying or Very sad

They are the mexican flaps, but they are very heavy duty....I got some and a local vdubber got some as well. We were both pleased. Found em on ebay for 25 +10 shipping. Not an arm and leg like everyone else.....
