I was driving at 60 MPH when I felt a jerk in the car and then I lost all my power. I mean all my lights radio, everything electric. The car is a 65 beetle converted to 12 volt. what could have caused that?

I agree, check fuses. It was raining here tonight & I was driving my '66 with the wipers on. The motor is weak so it draws a lot of amps, popped the fuse & the car quit. Changed it & away I went....

Could this be a bad voltage regulator? i have one of those motorola regulators in there. The battery still has a full charge which says to me the alternator is working.

Here is the regulator. The back of it has some sort of glue shit. I have no idea what it is. Can anyone tell me about this thing?

Does the starter still work? Do you have an ohm meter or a test light to check for power at the fuse block?

I pulled out the volt meter and got nothing coming out at the fuse block. when i turn the key, nothing happens, the speedo lights dont even come on.

OK fixed it. Chalk this one up to "dumb things previouse owners do" I found the wire that goes from the starter to the alternator basically sitting on the heaterbox. it melted right though and broke in half. so I did what should have been done in the first place and routed the wire where it should be after i replaced it. Thanks for the help.

Exactly the same thing happened to me, I had to replace the ignition switch in my case. Entire car went dead when I was driving up to an overpass.
