just a few more weeks and we will all be together.

Are you sure that the thick rubber grommet around the base of the column isn't the problem? Confused THAT is what creates the "isolated" ground- NOT the steering column! Sounds like your column is contacting the body.

will you look at it and tell me? I know that the column that came off was cracked and the wire was in intermittant contact with the metal. when I took it apart there was a connector that came through the steering column and plugged into the horn of my Nardi steering wheel. This was isolated from the rest of the wiring.
All I know is that I no longer have a horn and the steering column that I installed was differant than the one I removed but atleast the steering wheel is solid now....
Cheers

I've got a spare one of those. Almost complete FI harness except for a few connectors and boots I scavenged for my project. PM me if you want it.

Hey Tram you're just a certified steering column repair specialist! Laughing I actually got one working for the Notch so I won't be needing your expertise. At least not on the column...a headliner, now that's a different topic. Wink

Who here is enthusiastic enough about their stock 1600 T3 to spend personal money and time on a web page, hooking all the members together, inputting them on a web page, keeping in touch with them, spending more personal money and time on shirts and stickers.....ect, you get the picture. I ask you all, nae dare one of you to take the task on. The T3 community would be a truly better place with MORE documentation and T3 owner involvement.

With out the blatant rip off of my sticker of coarse Wink

I still like the TYPE 3 Aussie Emblem stickers idea. You might even put a 1600 below it?
