How difficult a job is it to replace the idler arm bushing on a 1971 Super Beetle?
You guys (and gals) are the greatest. I have yet to post a question that somebody doesn't have an answer for.

Thanks,
Craig

Not bad. I used a press. I drilled the housing and the new bushing. Then installed a greese fitting so I can greese the assembly during oil changes. Works well, my 73 has no steering wheel shake/shimmy.

Pretty easy, if you have a c clamp you can press the bushing out with it and some sockets.

Thanks,

Yeah, first take off the cotter pin/castle nut then the three bolts then the nut on teh arm shaft pull it out press the bushing out press the new one(brass hopefully) grease it up put the arm back in then put everything back together. I don't think I missed anything.

Sounds easy enough. Hope to tackle it in the next couple of days.

Thanks,
Craig
