|

Anyone have any experience with the coolant sender? Mine went out about a month ago and I am ready to put in a new one. Looks like it is in a miserable location....any tips?
Looks like I got 2 choices for getting at it: 1) come from the bottom and pull some hoses or 2) remove the AC and attack from the top.
Also, anyone suggest other replacements while I am in there? I'm thinking maybe the O2 sensor or thermostat?!?! |

What year Vanagon? 1.9 or 2.1 engine? I have replaced both temp senders on my 2.1- the one for the gauge and the one for FI, both with very little trouble, and no need to remove anything else.
Also, I'm about to replace the sender for the FI on my 1.9, and it doesn't look like I'll have to remove anything else.

2.1
Hmmmm. Thanks. My buddy and I were looking at it in the dark, and it seemed like a terrible spot. Guess I should peek at it in the daytime! |

It shouldn't be too hard both sensors are right above the thermostat on the driver's side near the back. I replaced both recently, easy, but I do have a 1.9 with the ac compressor removed. |
