|
|
FINALLY !!! after a 4 year drought of Bus buying- I picked up another Split bus.
1961 15 window, found 15 miles from home, in a old guys barn/garage. Off the road since '74, it has been welded all over by the owner, a true east coast survivor.
Came w/ all the seats , Glass, trim, gas heater, engine ran when he parked it. I had to move his '63 Bug out of the way, then put it back in after the Bus was out, plus drop the engine, the stuck engine & no clutch prevented it from rolling, about 6 hours work, had to get the middle seat & rear seat base down from up in the barn... - My ass is DRAGGING !
A few Pics:

That thing looks pretty nice!
The force is strong in you, use it only for the purpose of good.
I see tha ass of a Mark III Jetta in second photo, I guess his VW tastes "evolved". Tell him I'll take that OG red interior from his '63 Beetle off his hands like right now!
Congrats! Now lets see some more photos. _________________ 1987 Wolfsburg T25 still riding out. A bunch of other VW's passed on... |

Nice find up in the north east bro. _________________ OGJHC

I'm starting to get little wafts of bus stink coming from the north. Something about the unique scent of drivers seat padding when it's glued together with mouse piss and shit that really gets me going... and I'm smelling it! Oh yeah! Time to start loading up the equipment. |

The 1st pic is his place, the rest at my house.
Its a 9 pass., not a walk thru, don't see any plastic wrapped grab bar, more pics to follow. The Old guy was a Mechanical Engnr., welded the fuck out of this thing, back in th early 70's, most of it looks good, not much Frankenstein crazy welding, new frame rails, rockers, floors, what he did'nt put on , he had the steel, loved finding the new corners ! He had it from 5/65, 2nd owner.
At this point its a keeper.
I found it by being that "crazy VW guy"- Driving the DIFFRENT looking Vanagon Doublecab april- Oct., and the Rabbit truck the rest of the Salty Year, and wear a Vw t-shirt DAILY ! This Photo store guy liked my "Crying splity/Jerrys Dead" shirt & that got the ball rolling, I figured out where he was, did a cold call knock, spent an hour & a half yaking , waited a month, came back & he said make a offer.............
He has a ton of 60-63 +- Bug stuff, I'll be working on that next spring........ _________________ Tom

I looked thru his Bug stuff, found a couple deck lids I liked, this one had a little dent in the bottom :
