After cruising for a period of time and I let her out of gear to decelerate to a stop the engine will simply cut out with no sputtering. It will restart after a couple very hard cranks. I Replaced the fuel filter and retimed and checked to idle screws but it still occurs. Any thoughts on carb or electrical issues I am missing?
*I replicated the situation in the driveway. In neutral after I give it full throttle for a second and let off the gas the engine will wind down and eventually cut out every time. Could it be a float issue?* |

does the carb have a throttle return delay device? Some Pict carbs had a device that limited how fast the throttle could close. When they failed or were out of adjustment that is what would happen - the engine would die. It can also be a sign the engine is too lean or rich at idle. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

the throttle return seems to bounce back ok. I am wondering if it is simply too rich, like you mentioned. |
