I already did a search but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. I am sure it there just not finding it.

I am compiling parts to lower a bus and have a question. I am trying to verify that the axles (axles only not tubes or bearing retainer) I have are 68 long/long type 1 or early type 3 and not 67 only type one. Could someone please give me some measurements so I can determine which axles I have? Length of the splines or length from the end of the threaded part to the machined step should get me pointed in the right direction I think. Pics would be good too.

Thanks
Josh

I know that the 67 and 68 look very much the same except the 68 has longer splines. I only have one set of axles in front of me right now so I can't determine if one is 5/8" longer than the other. They are definately long axles, just not sure about the spline length. How long should the splines be on a 68 axle? Or, how long should the splines be on a 67 axle?

67 and down spline= 3 7/8 from flat that skinney spacer sits/ so 68 would be about 4 1/2" from same spot. i missunderstood your question ,i thought you had both axles in front of you. this length of spline-not-spline plus threads. Very Happy

thats what i just put in my trans,i beleive you have to run skinny beetle brakes and spacers on your wheels if your going to run stock rims.otherwise no spacers if you run raders or brms etc. due to offset.

machine 5/8" off snout and run type 3 brakes or use 68 and up brakes with wide thing drums-machine 5/8" off snout to get same length as 67 and down spline.
