what is the difference between early and late shift rods? i need the rear rod for a 67 and don't want to get the wrong one. does any body make a repro? why are bus rods so flimsy and prone to rusting through, unlike bug? i know i could spend a lot of cash for a used one, but i'd like something a little heavier duty.

What do you mean "rear"? The one inside the bus' tube? The early ones had a coupler on the front so a smaller front of the rod the same as the back. The later had a ring vise so the rod is slightly smaller than the front rod's inside diameter and the ring goes over the outside diameter.
