I spent part of yesterday pulling some parts from the 1957 parts Ghia and unbolting the body from the pan. The best I can make out the VIN to be is 1514263.
I clipped the nose brace from it and found the dome light lens. That was a shock, because the dome light lenses are impossible to find without cracks or being broken. This car is full of dirt, droppings, and black walnuts. The lens was buried in the debris. The switch for the domelight is missing a small bearing that allows contact to be made for proper operation. The tiny spring is still inside of the lever.

I had a similar find about 10 years ago...put the lens under my display plexiglass at a show and it melted....felt pretty stupid. Did get a nice '59 steering wheel and side badge in the next $100 Ghia which almost made up for it.
Icy, it looks like you are a careful guy...nice cuts, nice ear protection.

Do you have a set of those early (round & thin back) ghia front seats?
If yes I will buy them from you!
Thanks in advance! |

Thanks, John. Breaking spotwelds is the easy part. It's when filler welds were used that the problems surface. I tried to carefully cut the luggage area from behind the rear seat of a convertible, but had to stop because of the filler weld used on the support braces. _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v.
