So I am currently about to seal up my seams on the inside and then apply soundproofing/insulation but I noticed that some of the sheetmetal braces that attach the outer panels to the inside panels have pulled away.

It looks like the factory used some type of expanding adhesive, and then painted over it because my rear hatch was loose and when I pulled it fully seperated and some chunks fell down which are quite heavy.

My question then is what should I use to attach the inside metal panel to the outside panel? Liquid nails or something like that?

I'll say that I work in a auto manufacturing facility (BMW) and we commonly use an adhesive for just this
(think bonding the hood to the structure underneath where spot welding would impact the physical appearance of the hood surface)
3M is a great name and a google search should bring up the product you need and I'd suspect they have excellent documentation on their site on proper application

Dredward- I ain't skeered(maybe a little). Cool

I don't know what bonding agent to use but a clamp like this will help during the drying process- http://www.autobodytoolmart.com/vise-grip-18-locking-c-clamp-swivel-pads-18sp-p-14404.aspx

I just did some searching and am thinking jb weld liquid might work?

My rear hatch (pictured) and the driverside strut near the zbed pulled apart, so I'm going to check the integrity of the other panels. The last thing I want is to install all my cabinets back in and have some godawful clanking like the rear hatch is since its no longer glued together.

i used some metal epoxy and it has held up. i didn't have a clamp so i leaned a motorcycle up to the hatch Smile

I'm not sure it's glue. The braces are loose on my doka too, the "glue" looks exactly like the stuff in the seams. That stuff is everywere!

Go here and select the one you feel works best for your application. Then go to an automotive paint shop and get some. You will need the funky dual piston gun to dispense it. There are other brands that use a single ram system and a mixing nozzel. I really have had good luck with the Fusor products.

If you are only planning on using the product all at one time then you can cut the tubes open and mix on some cardboard and then apply. This saves the expense of buying the 'gun'. I have done this successfully a couple of times. YMMV.

3-M body panel adhesive would work very well for this repair.
