I am looking for a used bike rack that mounts on the back hatch door. I know Fiamma sells them specifically for Vanagons. Does anyone know if anybody else makes or sells a similar bike rack? Or where I can find a used Fiamma bike rack. Thanks.

I have the fiamma bike rack and it is awesome. There is a guy selling one used right now on the samba classifieds, but the he wants $300. Van-Cafe and Bus Depot both carry them for less. Don't have any experience with any of the other racks but my experience with the fiamma is that it fits perfect, is well built and carrys two bikes very securely (i think you can even get one for 3 bikes.)

Check it out here: ($269)

Or at bus depot: ($250)

personally ive always liked the Hollywood brand bike racks.

if you can find them used they are usually a steal, otherwise you can buy new for about $50+ or so....

I picked up one from a local yard sale for $10 a few years back and love it. you can still open the rear hatch with the rack and bikes connected, as the straps connect to the top and bottom of the rear hatch.

fyi, if your interested in some options under the $300 price mark.

I am gonna lean more towards what dogpilot says. The rack offered at the site he posted is awesome. I like it mainly because it adds a ladder for easy access to the top and the way the bike rack is made makes it much harder on any on how try to steal it. I had one similar to the Hollywood and someone cut it and took the rack and my bike (i was really depressed).

You think those are tougher than the Fiamma racks? I can't find any closeup pics of the Fiamma rack, but those ladder/racks you posted look pretty solid..

I'd recommend purchasing a hitch and using a hitch mounted bike rack. The hitch will come in handy time and time again.
