BELIEVE THAT OUT SIDE DEMENSION WAS SAME AS 66 . CHANGE TO 12VOLT BROUGHT SLITLY BIGGER FLYWHEEL OUTSIDE DIA. , 68 WAS YEAR OF BIG CHANGE TO CV AXLE
12 VOLT FLYWHEEL WILL FIT FINE AFTER COUPLE MINUTS RUNNING TIME . IT WILL CLEARENCE ITSELF. I KNOW NOT CORRECT BUT IT WORK S |

Sapphire VIII AM/ 8 Track's in working condition are harder to find than the Sapphire VI's. Not to mention the optional VDO tach. |

OH - so if my currect rings do NOT have that imprinted on them - they are not OG? |

Both the inner & outer headlight rings should have the SB12 designation embossed on them. The inner rings are easier to find since they were used on multiple years following 1967. The outer ring was used during 1967 production only.
The outer ring shown above was on my former '67 convertible. Here's a pic of the inner ring on the same car while I was assembling it a few years ago.

Hello everyone. I'm new here. How about the tunnel mat? and 'vert things......rear-view (inside) mirror, early top w/ chrome strip above rear window, mid year change without strip, deck lid (try to find one of these!), and the most esoteric 67 only thing ever...the convertible's deck lid "rain tray". |

Correct....but, I was speaking of the tack strip (w/ recess) and chrome deco strip ABOVE the rear window, which was eliminated at the mid year change you mention. The chrome deco strip around base of top / body remained thru '69, I think. Isnt the clear plastic fuse block cover another '67 only item? VW1500 emblem on early '67 deck lids....... |
