Thanks guys - Something is up on that 82. Seller wants to sell, "as is"- not smogged and last registered in FL in 2015. Also carfax says the engine is a diesel. I'm in the bay area and willing to travel for the right bus. Really glad I found this thread. Search continues.... |

That white van in SD is beautiful, but why in the world would someone advertise that the swivel passenger seat would make a good bed for a 5th person? My Vanagon seats lean back.......hmmm........about 4 inches. It's probably the worst feature of the whole van! _________________ 86 Vanagon Westfalia 87k

Agreed, however, the passenger seat is good for naps! _________________ Joe T.

This one looks like it's worth looking at, nice setup and lots of extra sensible upgrades. No mention of rust coupled with no pics of the outside other than the one - might be an issue. Sweet van if rust free tho. $14k

While this may not be a cheap Vanagon, I think it is worth the time and money to bring over.
If I were in the market again for a unique Syncro this would be a strong candidate. A 16" with the high pop-top! Looks to be in good condition and the price is not over the top.

p.s. I know nothing about this van other than this ad. No idea if it's an original or conversion. Since it's a 16" with a Cartago top I would suspect it's at least a pop-top conversion from a tintop. _________________ Currently:

Looks like my syncro Westy might end up being a good deal for someone on ebay today. Two days ago I found out about a family member with very serious issues and drastically lowered the reserve to get this done and head out there.

Just happen to see this on Craigslist.
Not saying "Good Deal" or "Nice Van" but maybe worth a look if you are in the northeast, have a budget and don't mind getting your hands dirty. Or- just ask the seller for more pics. Looks like rust might be an issue but hard to say. _________________ 91 Westy.

I see a couple things done cheap, and that makes me wonder what else.
The grill has the homemade SA effect lights, but with broken and twisted grill parts.
The repaint looks especially poorly done, that can be seen even at a distance, with what I think we can assume is the cheapest paint he could buy.
I dont think anyone will be happy with how it looks in a couple years.
This makes me wonder what else was done slap-on style.
The front left corner kinda looks like its had body work done ?
Take a magnet and check for lots of bondo, and rust hiding under the paint.
Overall leaves me wondering if this was a beat to hell van that someone is trying to quickly fix and flip.
Lipstick on a pig.
Maybe not but thats my impression. _________________ One of these days I'm gonna settle down,
