Scam. I'd say it's probably not possible for any rational person to have that kind of info/ knowledge about a Vanagon and not be roughly aware of it's value.
I just don't get what kind of payoff results from that scam.

Annnnnddd...it's gone. If you'd copied and pasted the text and photos we'd have it for posterity. Very easy to do. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |

Yes, very interesting. I have a deposit down on an 89 with a 2.5l Subaru right now but this action is very tempting.

I've noticed that too. It seems that many BaT people don't believe Syncros/campers are worth anything since they are just 30 year old vans. Same goes for $100k multi window buses. They like to make a lot of "I don't get it" statements. |

I watched it go up $10k in the last 5 minutes and was not surprised at the reserve not met results. In the vein of The Fear Of Missing Out and liking the idea of the SVX motor with upgraded drivetrain to handle the additional horsepower I was interested. I'm curious to see if it pops up anywhere for sale again to see what it goes for. It seemed like a pretty good mostly ready to go Syncro.

I don't see anything that supports this. A rebuilt transaxle is just that. Unless I missed it somewhere, I don't see any upgrades to the transmission to support extra hp and torque. _________________ Currently:

How is this a good deal? Am I missing something obvious?

Hello Geoff
I'm not the Forum police, I think you may have posted your questions in a thread that is tailored toward people looking to share a score and those looking to get a deal. There should be a sticky titled: Help Me, I Might Buy This, thread?
I'm sure it would become an entertaining thread.
Syncro Campers are expensive. You have found some. When spending the coin, a well built TinTop into a camper can be great. I've built a few and always disclosed it was a conversion.

This is not a factory Westfalia. If it is, somebody did a job making it look like a tin top conversion. I would have a pro inspect it to ensure you are getting a value. |

i'll start a new one discussing my needs and seek some input

thanks
