This add states 1991 bit the spray nozzles indicates a pre 1987.5 model ... Maybe a chop chop title?

Looks decent, not screaming...
-repaint looks hasty, I can see overspray, things that should have been removed which were painted instead, etc
-hightop is kind of a two edged sword (I like them personally), limits your buying audience quite a bit.

Plus, it's an Adventurewagen, NOT a Westfalia which makes me wonder about the one-owner claim, the Westy decals and the Westy name in the description.. The typos and non-op title also are suspicious.

Smells scammy.

Definitely an AW top and interior. I'd be suspicious of the "one owner" claims but that would not keep me from looking at it if I were in the market. Have a VW mechanic do a prepurchase inspection for you. Beware of title issues.

good deals?! I'll post some pics soon of the 86' Westy we just got for my mother a couple weeks back.
But for Vans actuvely for sale..I'm kind of partial to Multivans...here's a couple good looking examples and some damn good prices in the PNW:

Doesn't run...but in my world the engine is the cheapest, easiest project.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And dammit...I really like this one. Looks nice, maybe needs a muffler? The way it looks even if it needed a rebuild it doesn't look bad economically for $5k.

Here's another that doesn't seem horribly priced. Looks like an honest ad for a clean maintained van. If they're a little flexible you could do okay..

This may be a scammer- it’s listed as Salt lake City on ebay, listed in San Jose on craigslist but guy says title is in AZ.... hmmm i tried finding out where he was and asked some questions about what size is the “subaru crate motor” and he is unsure, said he bought van to sell and will call me tomorrow. And he’s about $10k more than any other tintop syncro...

Friend is interested in buying a Westy. It's been up for awhile - buyer had its for 24.5k for awhile.

What's it worth?

Guys a typical millenial dreamer: points, plugs, windshield wipers aren't f*cking upgrades, they are ROUTINE MAINTENANCE! Likewise the tires and brakes...

"All original paint" - but why are the rockers done in gravel guard?

And he last changed the oil 20,000 miles ago? Low ball the SOB.

6k for decent looking stock synchro with rear locker
https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/d/vanagon-syncro-volkswagon/6710936279.html

From ad:
Selling this 1986 Vanagon Syncro 2.1L with working locker transmission. This Syncro is all stock. I used to use it for skiing all over the northwest for years. I have since moved to a 4wd truck camper. I don't drive the Syncro anymore so it time to let it go. Engine is solid. The traditional (green) coolant is not in this Syncro it has long life pink Pentosin the right coolant for this engine and cooling system. The transmission has synthetic trans fluid in it.

Price reflects overall general condition. $6000.00

Hope you have a good reserve price set. Syncros typically do terrible numbers on BaT.

The closet door is the wrong one for the '89. The '89 would have a closet door that can clear the table in stowed position. I can't see any other specific stuff, but I'm not as fully vetted to say I know enough more to reason on the unit as a whole. But.... If that door is a first indicator there is something fishy, more should be noted by experts.

If you look at the vin# it shows vehicle production number 000211 for 89 model year. That is about the the first production week. Lots of yearly changes happened that didn't happen exactly at 000001 in a given year. For example the Syncro front suspension changed during 89, many have the later but some have the earlier setup. They don't throw away the older parts when improvements are made, they use them up in most cases.
