Some of those base models came with the full power option package and then some. Mirrors, windows, door locks. A/C and cruise. Had a couple 90s that way in my family. One a silver Syncro, one a white auto trans. Still had the hard dash, no tach, no wing windows, coarse tweed fabric, no front armrests, no rear ceiling vents, full rubber floor, wired for aux battery......

The 1990 vanagon brochures cover all the models and optional upgrades.
Coincidentally, we have two 90 base model vanagons in our family, mine is the base model with the P89 upgrade (ac and rear wiper, but no power windows or locks etc), and my dad's is a P90 (ac, power windows, power locks, aux battery wiring, cruise control, etc). Neither have tachometers stock, but the cluster connector is pre-wired for a tach so you can swap your speedo into a tach cluster and it's plug and play.

There may be potential to get this one for a decent price if someone wants to put in the work and can deal with a salvage title.

Anyways its a good indication of how much protection a RMW bumper can provide. Not too bad. Looks like he might have rear-ended a truck? I wonder if the bull bar did more harm than good.
I also wonder how much more/less damage would have occurred if the bumpers were stronger. It seems like the fact that it crumpled helped to absorb some of the impact. |

Syncro Vanagon SVX - $8000 (CRAFTSBURY COMMON)
Quote: |
1991 Syncro SVX. Subaru SVX Swap professionally done by Small Car out West in 2002. lots of upgrades, big brakes, bumpers, lights/ grill, suspension. Ill call it a running project as needs metal work on the rust areas They all do. Needs a windshield as has some spider cracks, front CV boot/joint. Gas gauge doesn't work. AC van but AC not working. Ebrake cable is toast. We did just drive it camping and was perfect on a 80 mile trip. Recently replaced the power steering hoses with hi quality german rubber ones. Best to email then call if 100% interested we can talk about it. |

yeah, that thing is a rust disaster. not worth the asking IMO. MIGHT be worth it to pull the engine, but it's been in there since 2002 and is probably ready for an overhaul. _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL Camper

And actually seems like it might be a good price for the amount of work done inside. Unique. _________________ '91 Westfalia, Bordeaux Red Pearl 2.1L 2wd Auto

I agree, in this day and age there is no reason to post crappy pictures of a $40k vehicle. Something fishy.

I don't see anything fishy.
He's been successful in the music business, spent a lot of money on this, and then his attention goes elsewhere.
Nothing fishy, pretty common really. _________________ One of these days I'm gonna settle down,

It is a little more Euro than I would like but a military Syncro 16 conversion seems a really reasonable thing to do.
I like it.
If I were looking it might be one I would buy.
There are lots of interesting ones for sale stateside too. _________________ "Use the SEARCH, Luke" But first visit the Vanagon FAQ!
