This Westy just popped up in Tacoma, WA for a cool $24,750. The seller is an older gentleman; it has been in his ownership for decades. I gave him a call with a number in mind.
Things to note that aren't in the ad:
1. He's not flexible with the price and is in no rush to sell.
2. The rebuilt GoWesty engine is a 2400CC.
3. The 4 speed manual transmission was rebuilt at this time as well.
4. It sits at a shop and anything that has ever needed to be replaced, was replaced that very moment.
5. He didn't sound all that convincing on whether or not there is rust on the body. He said he didn't think so, but I think it'd be best to see it in person.
6. I got the vibe that he would prefer local buyers. |

Great pics!
And what a great idea for the custom paint-job... Just buy some duct tape and bang, silver stripe ! _________________ '90 Little Blue Truck, 2WD auto, FAS GenV 2.0 NA (AVH) |

Ugh, that poor van. They couldn't just bolt up that front right wheel and drop it off the floor jack for a photo? Hope it gets saved.
I think that silver stripe was a dealer option. Both of my '85's had it. _________________ Joe T.

Missing title, not that fun to deal with in CA. Back fees, lien, salvage title etc. |

My van was similar, not quite as bad, but definitely rust speckled around the engine bay. I slapped some Mar-Hyde on it when the engine was out and moved on with my life. I regret not painting the whole thing, hah. _________________ '87 Syncro

This VW has been relisted 3+ times on ebay. First time it hit high 20s, then $18k, then relisted again just now. I don't know what is up with it but the seller seems fishy in my opinion. Very little mention of the rust. Take a look at the rocker with the sliding door open. It looks incredibly rusty. I'd stay far away from it. _________________ 📖 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, Jesus,

Wow, this ain't bad. Get it down to $10k maybe, and that's a solid ride. AC, engine conversion, full camper.
Did I read that correctly? It has rear airbags? _________________ 📖 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, Jesus,

it's funny what you people out west consider rust.
that sliding door track is chipped off paint.. likely from grit that wasn't cleaned out from under the roller wheel. and sure it's not perfect but can be cleaned and repainted.. it's superficial at best..
that white westy is near immaculate by eastern standards

Looking for some insight from some vanagon pros... Found this for sale locally in socal
It isn't titled or smogged in CA but owner said he has a new exhaust with a catalytic converter. _________________ 1973 Super

Typical kitchen rust, and needs some brake work, but the interior seems to be in really good shape. Price seems very fair, if not on the low side. Someone who can repair the seam rust and address the brake overhaul could have a nice running driving full Westy for under $10k. _________________ 1982 Westfalia AEB 1.8t

Aircooled
Has quite a bit of rust.
Doesn't look great... kind of like it may have been sitting for a while
Needs to be smogged.
If it runs I'd offer like 6-8k in Socal |
