I have a 63 Vw that has been converted to 12V. Car starts up great when cold but if I Get out and get her warmed up the red dash light starts to flicker at idle and when you shut it off it will not restart for about a half hour. The Engine does turn over but it will not fire up. Maybe the Timing?

I had the same problem with my 66 and it turned out that the battery didnt have enough juice to crank it up when i got it warm. Check your battery with a digital volt meter ot try to start it warm with a known good battery. Worked for me. Also it sounds like it could be your alternator or generator..........Peace

i had a similar issue, turned out the coil wasnt putting out a strong enough spark at start up...swapped it out and all was well again.

could be overheating, check all your cooling tins, timing, etc.
