I know the engine is not for a split, but I got a Barndoor engine with my split when I bought it, and sold the BD engine, and bought this one.

Last weekend when I was out front watering the plants, I saw a beautiful 1950 green split window drive by my house. He had lots of stickers in the rear side windows. I thumbs up and he waved back, but did not stop. I know it was a 1950 because of the personalized plate. I saw him again a few minutes later down the street turning on another street. I think he lives only about a block away, but must keep the car in the garage. If it's you shoot me pm if you want to talk VWs.

My 1950. Recently inherited from my step father, it has been sitting here for about 15yrs. I am excited to bring it back to life once more. I'll post some pics once I get it up and running.

Looks like someone grafted a 2-fold sunroof in. You're in luck. Call Grumpy.

My May 52 split. Been wrecked and repaired with incorrect parts front and back, one door is right and one is way wrong. All running gear has been swapped. Was stock height on date coded 1955 wheels when I got it. And I'm still totally lovin' it. Have named it Krampus since it brings out the worst in people, (everyone wants to point out the wrong bits) and the colors seem sorta old world Christmas to me. The red 356 Porsche wheels (dated 1964) front, and widened rear replicas are what set off the idea.
I'll be hunting parts for years and once I have them a total restoration will be done. For now though just driving it has been a blast.

Grüezi!
that is just so beautiful !!!
loving the wheel color, sweet period accessories, vintage license plate and especially the checkered seat covers ! it reminds of period acessory covers.
it is so refreshing to see a car like this among all the slammed, airride and Fuchs equipped rides. supercool !
