Somebody gave me a complete Porsche engine and trans today, the trans is a 911 5 spd and the engine is a 914. I found tech articles on the enigne, but what does it take to put the trans in? I'll be putting it in Bridget, my 67 T1 with swing axles. I have the complete subframe in the rear for the 914 as well.

Thanks!

It takes alot of fabrication.

www.germanlook.com has an article.

Is it a 901 or a 915 tranny?

Look at the part number on the side of the tranny.

Are the numbers on the underside of the trans? Mine is connected to the engine and I looked all over the top and sides and didn't see any numbers on it. Where should I look?

I guess this is my question. If it's that difficult to convert, is it worth it in the long run to make the swap, or should I just leave the trans I have in there right now alone and just change the engine?

I can't say if the work is worth it.

But I have a Berg 5 speed and love it.
