This is what was in mine, I used a regular white so it made it a bit brighter.

Well when I got it, I did think of a few funky things to do to the panels, like road map for headliner, fabric covering the panels, that kind of stuff.
Then I started reading about what others had done, after reading a few horror stories of people who covered them with things that where to thick, I realized I needed to use something thin to cover them.
Then I read something from someone who painted their existing panels, sounded like a good way to go, you can always cover them later.
In thinking about colors to paint them, I realized why they where white in the first place, it's because they brighten it up inside.
The dark cabinets of the early westy make it darker inside then the newer gray cabinets.
So the less light you need the less battery you use.
Function before form in my camper. Wink

Art,

Why are you picking such colors? Why not put in something close to what it had. White is quite bright. I guess I would have to be there ot see it. But sure seems mighty artsy white to me.

Glad mine is not doing such funky stuff (YET!)

Yeah, I checked with the friend of mine who works at the shop and he says that they shouldn't off gas because they did that already in his shop. No A/C and the sheets were there for over 2 years. They are UV resistant as well so they should last over 20 years. The material is 1/8" ABS.

The panels all look great. I've got all of mine off right now to redo mine. It's too hot right now in Florida, but in a couple of more weeks, the mornings will start to cool down a little and I can get to work recovering everything.

Good work!

Must be the time of year for interior panels. Laughing
I just got mine about done, I was part of a bigger project to re insulate and sound deaden.
It's been cool enough here to work on it, so I got a bunch done, I'll write a bigger post on it when I get the cabenets back in.
Getting close to camping season, Very Happy since I've got the mechanical stuff about covered it was time to start on the inside.
These are the original panels out of my 81, I pealed off the ratty plastic, filled in any hole with wood putty, primed them with kilz, and painted them with latex gloss white, look like new, and was cheap.

Damn dude...that lookes nice.....but.....and I REALLY don't want to rain on your parade....

I'd keep the van ventilated with fresh air as much as possible. Why? Most if not all plastics outgas. Plastic gases = cancer. Ever wonder why cars/trucks get that greyish film on the inside of the windshield.....outgassing from the plastic dashboard. Find out where that ABS (PVC?)comes from and verify from the manufacturer that it doesn't or minimally outgases. If you can smell it, especially on a hot day when the van gets over a hundred degrees inside, it's outgassing. Sorry dude but your health is worth checking this out...........LOOKS SO NICE THOUGH........ Neutral

Man does my van look flippin schweet inside now. Finally got around to ripping out the cabinets and replacing all the hardboard and crap paper that was flaking off with the 1/8" ABS plastic my buddy can make. Only cost $40 bucks and helping him move a stove.
