I found out some more details on the car. It has stock engine, except for YELLOW cloth spark plug wires. So they do more than just "look cool"...

Well Bob, you DO have 36hp in your oval rather than 25hp...
About 20 years ago, I remember watching Joe A loading his fine '50 Karmann Convertible (same car as in this thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=189728) at a VW meet. He was revving the (stock) engine a bit to get it onto the trailer, when one of his onlooker friends kidded him to see if he could pop a wheelie. Joe pulled the car well back, revved the engine even more, popped the clutch in 1st, and if I remember correctly, the front of the car popped up from "all that torque" with the tires maybe even leaving the ground an inch for a second... |
