here are both of my vws when they became mine. july 2021. the bug is pretty easy to see. the rear corner of the pickup can be seen right below the bale of chicken wire. the garage was built in 1998, the cars were moved in and then time took over.
here we have one of the older pictures i have of the bug. im the kid. the other guy is my dad. the picture was taken in 1987. dad bought the bug when i was 3 months old.
pics as they are today (more or less). still have a long way to go to get them back on the road.

Off the road since '86, in this barn since '96. Now in my shop and awaiting some long deserved attention.
Can't see from this angle, but it is a sunroof model, too

Does it count if I found it in a real estate listing?
Anyway, it came home with me.

Found this beetle in the desert for sale. Vin# says it’s a December 57
Convertible……original paint ….. it’s also rust free zero cancer and NEVER been in an accident perfect front and rear Aprons .. Came with really early parts like oval rear view mirror perohaus grab handle and early oval convertible banana rear window BUT the killer score is that it came with a 49-52 split beetle hood

As found. Loaded with "spare parts"
Hooked up and ready to drag home, someone haggling over prices of same "spare parts" before I even get out of the Bug-O-Rama

'60 Canadian Standard, purchased on a camping vacation to British Columbia in 1966, when the family microbus blew up. He even had a trailer hitch installed at the dealership to get the tent trailer home.
Driven as a second car when they made it back to Ontario, and stuck in the barn in the early 80s. The barn started falling down a few years back, and the Bug got shoved outside (thankfully, because the barn totally collapsed about a month later). _________________ '60 Canadian Standard, '64 Bug, another '64 Bug, '66 Bug, '69 Sunroof Bug, '69 GT3 Bug, '71 Super, '72 Super, '73 Canadian Custom, '74 Love Bug, '83 Mexi Bug, '85 Cabrio, '94 Mexi Bug, '99 New Beetle, '02 New Beetle Turbo S, '03 New Beetle VR6. Early 80's I did a brake job for a friend on his 60 something Toyota wagon.
He offered me a 1957 bug for the labor. Original 36hp ran poorly but I drove it home with my friend following behind me.
I took this picture with my Nikon F camera and it was the last shot on the roll.
We stripped it down and dropped it of at the local body shop. I paid him $2000 upfront and went off for my 100 day summer job running a boat.
Hoping to find it all body work done and painted. But when I got back it was sitting out side with no paint or doors on. Puddles of water on the floors halves.
I asked why it wasn't done he said that I ran out of money.
To add insult to the injury. He had the glass sitting near the bench grinder and the oval glass got all pocked up. Good thing I had a 54 parts car for the glass and Kilometer speedo.
We towed it back to my shop and my pal Todd and I spent the time to fix and paint it.
We found the body hack had 1/2 inch of bondo in the front fenders. A little heat to get that lump of bondo off, and just a little work and very little bondo made it better
It still needs the headliner smartened up but we enjoy it
cheers
