I've heard that new windshields are available from "Origlass" (sp?) in, I believe, Italy. I think that route is rather pricey. Other than that, used is "where it is." The only place I've seen advertising used glass for Type 4 cars is Parts Place for All Volkswagens in Auburn Hills, MI. Whether or not they have what is in their catalog is another story- they can be hard to deal with. _________________ '74 412 wagon

| I got all my rubber from revolks.com They do take a little bit to answer the e-mails, but I never had any problems with them. |

I also got window and taillight rubber from revolks back in 2004 for a resto job that I finally had done on my 412 this spring. Beware of the taillight rubber, I have not yet been able to figure out how to make it work--luckily my old rubber was still in fair shape so I could reuse it. I got the style of window rubber that takes the chrome inserts (they sell it with and without) and it worked out very well at the resto shop, although the windshield and rear window pieces both turned out to be extra long and had to be trimmed and re-cemented together by the shop.
Now about revolks service--I agree that they are VERY VERY VERY slow in responding. Also it took me about 4 months to get the rubber after sending money because they claimed that the first shipment just disappeared in the mail! I've never had that happen with any supplier before. Revolks had a second set made up by their supplier for me, and that took lots of extra time. So I recommend that anyone ordering from them pay in advance for shipping insurance because I was lucky that they did not make me pay for my rubber twice. _________________ Chris Hobbs

| I have heard that you can take a bus windshield gasket and cut it down a little and use it on a Type 4. Never tried it myself as I got a gasket for a Brazilia while I was in Mexico a couple of years back, a perfect fit for my 411. |
